October Bike Loot

Our October Bike Loot, which was kindly sent to me by the dudes over at Bike Loot, arrived last week. I *should* have opened it before we left for Chicago so B could have taken some of the goodies with us, but I wasn’t thinking and didn’t ;(.

In case you aren’t familiar, Bike Loot is a sort of new monthly subscription service that offers you a box containing 5 to 7 top-quality, pro-level cycling product samples delivered straight to your door.

The Box

Bike Loot ships via USPS First Class mail and like with all other USPS items, it arrived very quickly.  Bike Loot is a newer (it launched in the Spring I believe), but unlike some of the newer boxes, I have never had any trouble with shipping, it arriving on time, etc.

First Look

I didn’t recognize anything in the first look, but I did appreciate the Halloween colors they used this month!  And umm, I am reusing that orange shredded paper for a little more Boo’ing I have planned.

The Information Card

The Bike Loot information card has product information, coupon codes and also notes on how the Loot Dudes use each of them.  Here’s what was included in the October (“Loot so good it’s scary”) Bike Loot box:

~Mud Energy Gel: Mud Energy Gel provides instant & sustaining energy, reduces hunger and aids hydration without the need to slam 3 gels in an hour.  B isn’t a huge gel fan, but he does use them and I think that one gel vs. three would work better for him for sure!

~Fuel 100 Fuel Bites: This flavor, Pumpkin Spice, hasn’t even been released yet, so Bike Loot’ers are one of the first people to try it.  I was expecting a granola like consistency, but they are actually more mini cookie like.  And are quite tasty!

~Doctor Hoy’s Natural Pain Relief Gel: B snatched this out of the box right away and put it in his knees.  They have been bothering him since last week (forever really) and he said this helped a lot.  In fact, he just came in and said “this stuff does work pretty good” and wants more.  But OMG it smells!  It’s not a bad smell, but man it’s strong.

~Beljum Budder: The suggested use for this is to help prevent chafing and saddle sores and I *think* B could have used this for his last few runs.  He’s been running with a shirt on (the horror) and there’s been some issues.

~OneBar: The Loot Dudes recommend one of these bars every 45 minute on rides. I think B will just have this for breakfast one morning with a piece of fruit.

~Osmo Nutrition:  OSMO reduces cramps and hydrates on long rides.  I am putting this in B’s workout samples to try box.  I think he’s getting a little worn out on running this season (although I think he has 5 more races to do by the end of the year to get to his 30 in 30 years), but I know next year he mentioned a triathlon?  I’m afraid to ask him about that now, but this may may for a perfect training sample (I think his days of marathons and other activities with no training is over).

Have you or your husband tried any of the running boxes? I’m interested in subscribing to one but, wanted to see reviews first. 😉

We haven’t. I have a friend (IRL) who gets Stride Box. I think he likes it but I’ll ask for some pictures of the next one he gets!
