The Box

The Homegrown Collective ships via USPS Priority Mail.  My box actually arrived in November (it was here on Saturday), however, it is fairly standard for The Homegrown Collective boxes to arrive early into the next month.

November The Homegrown Collective
First Look

I can never guess what the Homegrown Collective will do and actually can never even figure out what the projects are even when I see the materials.  I actually need to read the information cards to figure it out!  Whatever we were going to be making here though, I was liking it!

The Information Card

The November The Homegrown Collective theme was “almond de”light”” and included two projects: Evergreen Oil Candle and Oh My Cacao & Coconut Almond Milk!  I didn’t snap a picture, but the box includes an summary page describing each of the projects, why they were included and the benefits of each.

Project #1: Evergreen Oil Lamp: Ahhh, I was so excited about this one that I forgot to take pictures of the materials used!  It’s possible that this is my favorite Homegrown Collective project ever.  It’s filled with all things holiday and is gorgeous.  It took me two seconds to stuff the pinecones and other evergreen filler in, pour in the lamp oil and get the wick set up.  Love love love.  These would make an amazing and thoughtful gift this season too!

~Project #2: Oh My Cacao & Coconut Almond Milk!: I have not finished making the almond milk yet, but I think this is going to be a project L and I do together.  The almonds need to sit in water for 24-48 hours and then the actual making of the milk can begin. It’s going to be fun to see what L thinks of this milk.

As usual, I didn’t do a value calculation for the November Homegrown Collective box since it would have been too difficult.  I wouldn’t describe The Homegrown Collective as a “value box” by any means, but I always learn something new with each box which is what it’s all about.

Boxes are $48 /month and, of course, are even cheaper if you buy a 6-month ($39/month) or 12-month ($35.75/month) subscription!  If you are interested in subscribing, or just want to learn more, click here.  And don’t forget to use the code “RAMBLIN10″ to save $10 off your first box!!! Oh and one more thing! The Homegrown Collective sent me an extra box this month to give away to one of you! All you need to do is enter in the Rafflecopter widget below! Good luck!

I would like to see cheese making material! (I don’t even know if it’s possible to put it in a box–I’m not very good at these crafty things). Love the idea of planting things and making things that you can actually use instead of things that just sit around.

    1. G

One of their first boxes was a cheese box….you can check it out on their website on past boxes!

  2. Cheryl

I would love to see some projects with making body butters or scrubs.

  3. Melanie K.

I love that candle! I’d love to see more candles in future boxes.

  4. Ashley

I don’t know what I could suggest. Everything looks wonderful!

  5. Megan Whitmore

What a neat box! I like the idea of a lot of seasonally decorative activities.

  6. Bethany

I love the idea of this box! Will definitely add it to my future subscription wish list. It would be cool to see some kind of cleaning product that you can make that wouldn’t have all the chemicals. (If such a thing exists!)

  7. Jill

I just got my very first Homegrown Collective box and I love it! I also ordered a past box, the coconut themed box where lip balm was made. I can’t wait to get it!

  8. Judy

I loved the idea of the soap nut/laundry box and this month’s holiday themed box! I’d love to see more ideas like these that I wouldn’t have considered on my own.

  9. Tara M

Definitely more candles! And that pomegranate chocolate thing you made looked yummy 2! Anything having to do with chocolate tops my list 🙂

  10. Julie McLaney

OmGosh! I love that lamp idea!!! I get so many great ideas from looking through your blog. 🙂

  11. Caitlin

I would love to see a lip balm diy!

  12. Katie K

Love this box, but the price is a tad high for what you get. If it had three projects this month then I think I would like the box better.

  13. Julie B

This box is a little pricy but looks like a lot of fun!

  14. Ruby Yoshi

I’d love to see a handmade soap kit if that is easy.

  15. G

Oh, I have been wanting to try homegrown collective since I first saw their boxes. I’m loving these DIY boxes. I love this sort of thing and they are advanced enough that the items are things my step daughter and I could make together. She would love it too. Something I’d love to see for a future box, candy…..I don’t care what kind, but some sort of candy. Lol. Or a soap making box, or a one I would love but I doubt they would ever do would be a box dedicated to doggies, making stuff for pets, I’d buy that box for sure! I’d also be interested in seeing a box dedicated to a certain scent rose or lavender or whatever and some beauty products made with it…sugar scrub, lotion, stuff like that…. I could keep going with ideas. I can’t remember exactly what every box has been that they have had so trying to make sure I don’t duplicate on something they have already done…. Thanks for the chance to win to try homegrown collective!

  16. Aimee A

I don’t know… Lol. It’s an honest answer, I just want to subscribe to this box so bad, but I have to hold back lol. I’d say I’d love to see more candy like those pomegranate chocolate cups!

  17. Elizabeth

I love the seasonal themed activities! I would love to see a hand or body scrub in a future box!

  18. Ali M

Cheese making things would be at the top of my list, candies/lollipops, sigh, it must be dinner time!

  19. Angela Minor

I’d love to win this box! I’ve been eyeing it for a while now!!

  20. Laura

I’m obsessed with these boxes. I love the cheese making idea above. Or mushroom growing. Or soap making.

  21. Julie S

Would love to see more unique candle making projects.

  22. Emily k

I’ve loved seeing the candle and lamp making projects!

  23. Nikki K

I just ordered my first box for my birthday present yay!

  24. Jennifer Pittman

I would like to make soap, bath salts, and candles.

  25. Melissa

maybe a box with natural cleaning products

  26. Jess

I would really like to see a kit to grow herbs.

  28. Caroline

  32. katrina

    Beeswax candles and a terrarium.

  33. Rachel

I’d love to see them do a bitters box, or a lemon curd/lime curd, or maybe a BBQ or steak sauce one. Or, a wreath making one with season appropriate fixings. Or fabric/block printing, or an herb garden with pots to decorate… I haven’t looked at all their offerings, so I may be repeating things they have already done, but those are the things I can think of! 🙂

  34. Lauren M.

You have the best give away’s!

  35. Jennifer Maddux

I’ve always wanted to try homegrown collective but couldn’t afford it. Looks like it would be so cool to have. Thank you for having such a consistently great blog.

  36. Stephanie B

Maybe something food related such as a flavored vinegar or homemade spice rub.

  37. Tiffany G

I would love to see soap making or body scrub!

  38. Megan

To make a candle- have always wanted to do that.

  39. Mackenzie

I think they recently did a box on vinegar? Like for cleaning and stuff? There are just so many uses for vinegar that they could easily repeat the theme with different projects.

  40. Natasha

Some sort of lip balm would be cool!

  41. Sara

I love handmade lip balm! I would love to see some of that!

  42. Maddy

    Something with honey.

  43. Joi

    Such an amazing project!!!!

  44. Vilanda

    Candles, candles, candles.

  50. sarah berry

  51. Kels

    something neat for pets!

  52. Kristin Lockwood

Love this box. I know I’ve liked just about all of your reviews- Scrubs, aromatherapy sleep stuff, candles, bar soap. Another one of those lamps!

  53. Rita

    Candle making box!

  54. Glenda

It’s a neat box in concept, but the customer service is horrible. (Still haven’t received a missing box since last May).

  55. Karen

Maybe something to make a jewelry piece?

  56. Julie Lee

    Cheese or almond milk!

  57. Lola K.

    Thanks so much!!
