Much to my surprise, my October 2014 BirchboxĀ has arrived. I knew it was coming of course, but I was still shocked to get it so early this month.
If you aren’t familiar,Ā Birchbox, which is $10/month, offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).
BirchboxĀ ships via USPS through Newgistics. Ā My box shipped on the 3rd and took 5 days to arrive. Ā I am always envious of people who get their boxes so early and I am finally one of those people!
This month’s box was their normal brown BirchboxĀ box. Ā No collaboration or special anniversary box this month.
Since I received my BirchboxĀ so early this month I wasn’t able to peek at it online. Ā Box contents are posted to your account on the 10th of the month so you can check to see what’s coming in your box or you can remain spoiler free. Ā I cannot tell you the last time I was spoiler free for a Birchbox. Ā It’s been ages. Ā I flipped through all the October boxes (there are 61 different box options this month) and I received Box #12 (*) this month.
The October 2014 BirchboxĀ theme was “Fanfare” and included the following BirchboxĀ obsessions:
~Balance Me Wonder Eye CreamĀ ($17.73): I love when we get eye creams! Ā This conquers wrinkles AND dark circles. Two products in one. Ā And two products I totally need.
~Beauty Protector Protect & DetangleĀ (~$3): Love this stuff! Ā I have sampled it on my other Birchbox subscription in the past and have purchased it from the shop. Ā It smells amazing and does everything else it promises (locks in color, protects from heat damage and adds silkiness).
~Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette Set (~$4): I have tons of shadows, but the colors on this one are perfect. Totally spot on and I would have picked these out on my own for sure.
~dr. brandt pores no more vacuum cleanerĀ ($11.25): This arrived in my Birchbox Fashionista box (on my other subscription) last month and I love it. Ā It really works and does smooth out the skin nicely. Ā I was so excited to see another tube of this because it saves me from having to purchase a full-sized tube for another month or so.
~ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty ($8): This was my selection choice this month. Ā I am not a lipstick fan, but I knew my SIL would love it so I got it for her.
All totaled I came up with a value of $43.98 for my October 2014 Birchbox. Ā If I include the points I get for reviewing the box (5 points = $5) and the points I got for purchasing the box (10 points = $1) I come up with a total value of $49.98. Ā I loved this box and totally loved how early in the month I received it.

ETA: My Birchbox profile on this subscription is totally blank. I never filled it out when I purchased this subscription and just never got around to doing it after. But now that I am seeing these boxes I am getting, I am leaving it blank!
My October birchbox was exactly the same as yours and I am THRILLED!!! I’ll use everything and in every case it was something I wouldn’t have bought for myself but I’m thrilled to have. The leave-in conditioner and the pore cleaners were repeats but I loved them both and am happy to have them again.
My sister received the same one. I received my tracking number last night.

I received the same box as you and I’m super happy! This is only my second month with birchbox, but I am loving it!

My box was completely different than yours, but I’ve recieved all those items in the past! I got box 1, and was pretty happy with it, birchbox is making me really happy lately! My favorite item I recieved was the Clarisea exfoliator, it’s a generous sized little tub, and I thought it was cool how it’s a powder, alot of people suggest mixing it with your normal cleanser, which I like the though of. I’m always pumped to get an exfoliating product, peel, or a mask.
