October 2014 GLOSSYBOX

GLOSSYBOX, who kindly sent me this sneak peek box to review, is a monthly beauty subscription box.  It costs $21/month and includes five luxury surprise beauty items shipped to your door. I love GLOSSYBOX and am consistently impressed at the value they pack into the boxes.  It’s seriously amazing.

GLOSSYBOX also does the best collaborations. Last month was a collaboration with Harper’s BAZAAR, they did a collaboration with Bergdorf Goodman a few months ago which may have been their best ever and they have also done collaborations with Dallas Shaw, The Man Repeller and Bydrie just to name a few! This month isn’t a collaboration, but there is never one too far away.

The Box

GLOSSYBOX ships via USPS.  They tend to ship towards the end of the month, so I generally don’t start looking for a shipping notice until after the 20th of the month.  In addition to getting GLOSSYBOX to review, I also have a subscription of my own which I pay for.  My October GLOSSYBOX hasn’t shipped yet this month.

The GLOSSYBOX

GLOSSYBOX’s boxes are my favorites.  They are sturdy and very high-quality.  Every time I make a box for a friend I use a GLOSSYBOX box.  They are a perfect size and hold tons of stuff.

First Look

As per usual, the GLOSSYBOX packaging was perfect.  Everything is always wrapped in tissue, closed with a sticker and tied with a ribbon.

Second First Look

Loved the first look!  I knew what was coming of course (full spoilers were leaked out yesterday), but I wanted to know what variations I received.  And I was quite happy with what I saw.

October GLOSSYBOX
The Information Card

The October 2014 GLOSSYBOX contained the following items:

~Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint ($24) (Flush): Of the two color varieties this month, I was hoping to get Flush!  It’s a sheer berry and since I have the cheek stain in this color as well, it’s perfect.

~Vince Camuto Amore ($5.74): I really like this. I am awful at describing fragrances, but the information card says that it’s a combination of fresh-cut flowers and fragrant fruits (among other things) and I would have to agree with that.  Just a caution with this one, the lid doesn’t seem super tight so I probably wouldn’t throw this in my bag like the card suggests.  It would spill all over my purse for sure.

~nails inc. Westminister Bridge Matte Topcoat ($10): Love it!  I use a matte top coat as a base coat under lighter colored polishes so that my nails don’t show through or so I don’t need 10 coats!  It works like a charm.

~Sesha Botanical Hydro Mask ($9): I haven’t gotten a chance to try this yet, but it’s happening this weekend.  It’s supposed to give you an instant glow and I need that!

~Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish + Body Builder ($11.99):  There were a few different options for this one as well, but I received the”volume” one (the other varieties are Repair Reparative Oil + Anti-Breakage or Anti-Fade Hair Treatment).  My hair needs the volume and I have been eyeing this line with every single trip to Target.  I ended up buying some stuff from “Hair Food”, but I was seriously holding them both.  I thought it did give my hair a little boost, but I can’t say I am in love with the smell.

All totaled I came up with a value of $60.73 for the October 2014 GLOSSYBOX.  That’s more than 3x the cost of the box and I love that I will be able to use every single thing in this box.  And I will probably end up trading for another mask as well!  The box also included a $40 Hello Fresh Gift Card, but I didn’t include that in the value since it’s for new customers only and I am not a new customer (and it will cost additional money to try the service).  If you haven’t tried them yet though, I totally recommend it!

Not too excited about the hair product (surprised GB has a brand sold at Target in their box…I adore Target but would expect higher end brands from GB), but the rest of the box seems amazing. Unfortunately my box isn’t estimated to arrive until between 11/1-11/13!! Sheesh

Don’t put too much stock in that date. I really don’t think they are too accurate!

I still haven’t received my September box, so I’m not so thrilled with Glossybox…but they’ll redeem themselves with the lip tint and matte top coat if I ever get October!! Yay!

What happened to your september box?

They just forgot to send it, it seems…they did finally send one out on Wednesday, so hopefully I will get it early next week!

I like everything in the box this month and will use everything myself. I was in a dept store recently and tried the vince camuto perfume and was going to put it on my Christmas list. Happy to receive it.

      It really smells good!

Love this box, hope I get the Volume hair product rather than the other versions. I have to say, Glossybox is not great with shipping, but they have the best curated box for the money, imo. $10 higher than Ipsy but about 100 times better, and without the high investment of a PopSugar/Style Box.

I just received my October Glossybox and I love it. I got the AntiFade hair product which is perfect since I live at the beach most of the summer and every weekend I can during the school year and my highlighted/low lighted hair fades really easily. I really liked this box. I will use absolutely everything in it. But you are right Jennifer~ I thought I had messed up the top on the Vince Camuto perfume~ seems very loose. So I am glad to know it was not me but the design of the bottle.

That’s perfect about the hair stuff. And seriously, I read that card and was like no, no, no, do not put that in your purse or the lid will fall off! It’s just not secure enough for my bag!

I loved my glossy box this month! It’s my third one (kinda) I’m still waiting on them to replace my August box, which was a nightmare from the beginning… Long story. But my September box was cool and this one is great 🙂
I got the other Tarte variation, I think the color is awakening, and I also got the Anti Fade of the proganix, which I love. It smells absolutely amazing, and I just started getting my hair bleached again so oil is my friend. And it’s in a pink holographic bottle, that in itself is enough to make me smile 😀

I was very disappointed this month. I did not receive a Tarte item or the Nails Inc. Top coat polish. I instead received a GB highlighter from their birthday box from August and the black dahlia lip tar from September. Anyone else get that unpleasant surprise? I emailed them. But have yet to receive a response. I have been a good customer since March when I signed up. But, I am considering canceling now. Especially, since this is the second time in 4 months I have not received the “in every box” item. I didn’t receive the Stevie eyeliner a few months back, because they ran out. I can handle their late deliveries. But, just not impressed with their business lately….
