My Community Box, who kindly sent me this complimentary box to review, is a themed curated membership service that allows you to receive 5 to 7 products every quarter, which are made or sold primarily in Hampton Roads. The service is aimed to allow you to “Try Before You Buy” at lower than retail prices.

The Box

My Community Box ships via USPS Priority Mail and took just a few days to arrive.

Inside the outer Priority Mail Box was the actual My Community Box box.  To give you an idea of the size, it could have fit in one of those padded Priority Mail flat rate envelopes.  It was a fairly good size, just not huge.

The Information Card

The October 2014 My Community Box featured the following items from local farmers markets and beyond:

Rainy Days Kitchen Biscotti (~$2): Biscotti isn’t my favorite snack, but I don’t dislike it either.  I tried the Sweet Almond and liked it, but it isn’t something I would buy on my own.

~Kandy’s Cakes Dried Fruit Cups ($5): These will make a great lunchbox snack for L.  I think I will put them in his lunchbox tomorrow actually.

~VA Peanuts (~$1.50): If I liked peanuts I would probably be a little more excited about this.  I mean they are okay, but I don’t just snack on peanuts ever.  B does though, so he’ll like these.

~Pumpkin Vanilla Bean Caramels from The Groovy Baker (~$2): I really liked these and I think I would have liked them even more had they not had the pumpkin seeds in them.

~Honey Sticks ($0.25): I have no idea what the flavors of these are (either Fall Honey or Lavender Honey I am guessing since that’s what My Community Box is showing on their website), but I will be saving them for when the boys are sick.  They always think it’s like a special treat ;).

All totaled I came up with an (estimated) value of $10.75 for the October 2014 My Community Box.  That’s well short of the $30/quarter price tag so I am not sure if I need to relook at my calculations or what, but either way, I wasn’t overly thrilled with this box.  It was all food / snacks this quarter and wasn’t a mixture of items like all the other months have been.

Did you get My Community Box this quarter?  What did you think?  If you are interested in learning more or want to see what they have offered in previous boxes, clcik here.

I was thinking where is the rest of the post. That is one disappointing box.

  2. Candice

We didn’t even get the apple chips or second bag of peanuts in our box. It was a very disappointing box even though I didn’t pay the $30 because of a promo it wasn’t worth the $15 I did pay. Cancelling.

Oh geez! That isn’t good at all!

I always pay $1 when I buy a honey stick at the register, so I wish I knew where to get them for that price. But yes, that is a very low quality box.

      I mean value, not quality.

I totally agree. There isn’t anything wrong with anything in the box, it just needs some more things too!

        Thank you!
