The December 2014 ipsy bag is here! ipsy is another one of the subscriptions that I have had since I discovered subscription boxes.  I actually originally signed up for it because Birchbox had a waiting list (it seriously used to take weeks to get off of it) and ipsy didn’t (back then anyway).

If you aren’t familiar, ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost) and I am always amazed at how they do it.

The Bag

ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail (starts out with DHL and is delivered by USPS) and I think it took about five or six days to arrive.

The Information Card

ipsy doesn’t include an information card listing the specific products you can find in your bag, but they are all listed in your account online.  “Glam Rooms” open on the 10th of the month (and even earlier for sneak peeks), so if you want to know what you are getting before your box arrives, you can find out!

The December 2014 ipsy theme was “Thinking of You” and included the following items:

~Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser ($2.60): I love getting cleansers in subscription boxes.  I think they serve as a reminder that I need to wash my face more!  I used this last night and thought it did it’s job well.

~NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm ($4): This lip balm isn’t over the top amazing  or anything, but it does the trick. I liked that it had a bit of color in it too.  I swear I have gotten this before, but I can’t recall what box it came in?

~Pixi by Petra Fairy Dust ($10): I had no idea what this was. Just from the looks of it, I would have guessed a cream eyeshadow.  Turns out it’s a shimmery powdery pigment that can be used to highlight eyes and / or cheeks.

~Swissco Electroplated Eyelash Curler ($5): I have an eyelash curler I am happy with, so I will pass this on to a friend.  Do eyelash curlers ever need replacing?  They don’t right?  Or do they?

~tarte Deluxe lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara ($8.33): Love seeing tarte products in here!  I like this mascara and will throw it in my travel makeup case.  I think I prefer the smaller size mascaras to the larger ones.  I get to try all the mascara I get more frequently with this!

~The Bag: This month’s bag is more like a pencil case than a makeup bag, but I love it.  And I think the little heart charm on it is really cute too.

The ipsy Bag

All totaled I came up with a value of $29.93 for my December 2014 ipsy bag.  It wasn’t my favorite ipsy bag ever or even my favorite in the last few months, but it was worth the $10 I paid for it!  It always is!

Did you get this month’s ipsy bag? What variations did you get? And what’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing or interested in learning more, click here.

haha that pixie stuff had me stumped as well. I still feel weird using it and I’m not 100% sure about it lol I’ll give it a try though!

I’ve always heard to replace the little pad on your eye lash curler every so often.

My bag was the same, except instead of the facial cleanser I got hair stuff and instead of the eye lash curler I got a brush. I’ve only had ipsy 3 months, but so far I’ve loved each month. Maybe not LOVED, but loved that it was definitely worth the $10! 🙂

girrrrrrrrrl, please clean your eyelash curler or change the little cushy pads in it every so often. You change your mascara, right?

I am dying. Yeah I do clean it. If I curl them I do it before i do the mascara though. Oh, have you ever heated up your eyelash curler?

oh yeah! blast a little blow dryer goodness on an eyelash curler for a few minutes is awesome. Makes me feel like Dolly Parton w those big old lashes lol

I like how the insert cards have differernt (personalized?) sayings this month! Mine was “creative genius,” but I love your “fearless heroine!” 🙂

    I got:

Bumble and bumble Repair Blow Dry

CAILYN Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid

    Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm in Parfait

Tarte deluxe lights, camera, lashes? 4-in-1 mascara

I’m pretty happy with my bag this month. I think the NYX balm will be too bright for me, but that’s okay.

i wasn’t in love with my bag this month (or the past few months), so i canceled and got a second birchbox sub! birchbox just seems to have consistently better samples than ipsy.

I think they send a better mix of brands. I’ve always thought ipsy was more makeup and Birchbox was a bit more skincare focused.

Took a hiatus from ipsy while in between jobs and this is my first month back and I loved it. I think this was my favorite box. Usually there is one thing I can’t use and I can use everything I got this time. I didn’t get the eyelash curler, I got a make-up brush instead that is probably the best I’ve ever owned. I wasn’t real sure about the fairy dust when I saw it but used it today and am very pleased. Stayed on longer than regular eye shadow.
