International Blessings, who kindly sent me this Box of Blessings to review, states that their mission is to empower 3rd world artisans by selling and promoting their handmade products, which then helps to create sustainable livelihoods and eliminate poverty around the world. Each Box of Blessings will have 3-4 pieces of jewelry or other handcrafted products made by impoverished people around the world.
Box of Blessings ships via USPS during the first week of the month and are only available to those in the US.
Box of Blessings always sends jewelry so I knew it was hiding somewhere in there.
The October 2015 Box of Blessings included the following products made in Haiti:
~Painted Clay Bead Earrings & Matching Bracelet ($8): I couldn’t find a price for the earrings, but I’d guess they are somewhat similar to the price of the bracelet. They are made out of clay and are providing real food and a hopeful future to those who make these pieces. As you can see the beads are not all perfectly matching and that makes me love them even more.
~Small Oval Basket ($8): This basket is made out of palm. I find this totally fascinating as I can only imagine how difficult it would be to make,
~Dried Plantains: This might be the first time we have ever received food in a Box of Blessings. I loved them.
~Cards: I can’t find anything about these in my information booklet, but the box also included some Hatii prints / cards.
I couldn’t find a value for the majority of the items in the box, so I couldn’t do a price breakdown. I liked that this box had plantains and a small basket in addition to jewelry. The basket would be cute to store all the Box of Blessings jewelry we get!
