Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.
Hamptons Lane ships in the second half of the month.
Hamptons Lane packages their boxes quite well and always takes care to ensure that nothing is damaged in shipment.
The Hamptons Lane information booklets have recipes (which utilize the items in the box), product tips and some history about some of the brands in the box. The November 2016 Hamptons Lane theme was “New American” and included the following items:
~Silicone Roasting Rack by Prepara ($11.92): I was confused by this at first, but now I think it’s genius. It’s a silicone roasting rack that’s used in the bottom of baking dishes and roasting pans that helps keep food up and out of fatty, burnt drippings. We don’t make a ton of roasts, but we’ll be using this for the ones we do make. So smart!
~Microplane Classic Grater ($11.09): This grater works for hard cheeses, onions, citrus fruits, ginger and more. It’s pretty much an essential kitchen tool. An essential kitchen tool we didn’t have until now. Be careful using it – it’s sharp, and you could lose a knuckle on it (just saying).
~Cage Free Duck Fat by Epic Provisions ($10.99): I didn’t think this was something we’d end up using until I looked through the information booklet and found a ton of recipes using it. The one that sounds the most interesting was the Stuffed Acorn Squash. I think that’s something I can get into! I am currently addicted to squash, so it’s a perfect fit!
~Cranberry Orange Chutney by Blake Hill Preserves ($6.49): This chutney is “packed with local cranberries that are simmered with some of our favorite heirloom apples (e.g. Reine des Reinettes, Belle De Boskoop and Northern Spy), oranges, raisins, apple cider vinegar, just a touch of pure cane sugar, and coriander & cloves”. I’ve been adding a touch of it to my grilled chicken, but it works well in fancier dishes (the information card gives a recipe for a Sweet Potato Latke with Cranberry Orange Chutney) or you can just use it on plain old toast.
~Dry Mustard Blend by Tin Mustard ($8): I know dry mustard is super versatile and a staple in the kitchen, but I strongly dislike it. That’s putting it lightly ;). I’m sure my husband will find a use for it, though.
All totaled I came up with a value of $48.49 for the November 2016 Hamptons Lane “New American” box. That’s more than the $47 cost of the box (and better than the value of the last two boxes), so I am hoping that Hamptons Lane is on an upwards trend! The December box will be revealed in a few days, so we’ll know soon!
