The Royal Wedding!

I couldn’t help myself and ending up getting up at 5am to watch the Royal Wedding. I loved all things royal. And what’s not to love? The pomp and pageantry. The fashion. The tradition. The excitement of the British people. Amazing! Here are my thoughts:

The Happy Couple

Totally stunning dress (Alexander McQueen). Does Kate (oops, I mean Catherine) take a bad picture? Good lord. She looks stunning in every single picture I have ever seen. How is that possible? So so poised and calm. The Palace gives lessons on this right? I would like to attend. I loved watching these two chat at the alter. They looked like any normal couple – excited and nervous! But I think Prince Harry sneaking a peek at Kate walking down the aisle and then whispering to William was the cutest and most real moment of the wedding for me. Love them. Kate’s dress is a classic and will be remembered forever. It’s totally timeless and was the perfect choice for the occasion. And unlike Diana’s dress, I won’t gasp in horror at all the wrinkles in the skirt ever time I see her stepping out of the car in it.

Pippa

Pippa Middleton is one hot little number. I think I loved her ceremony dress more than Kate’s. She handled her duties perfectly today and never once tried to overshadow her sister. And didn’t get a hair out of place. My husband even commented on Pippa’s hotness when we talked about the wedding. And I personally like the white dress for a bridesmaid. It’s 100% clear that she was not the bride and wouldn’t be mistaken for the bride at all. I bet “Pippa Middleton” was one of the most searched for terms on google today.

Hats

Although I can count on one hand the number of times I have worn a hat (other than for warmth) in public, or anywhere for that matter, I still love the British tradition of wearing hats to weddings. In fact, it makes me want to run out and buy a fancy hat and get myself invited to some wedding in London. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the British PM’s wife and she didn’t have a hat on. The nerve! And what a great way to cover up a bad hair day.

Separated at Birth??

Please tell me I am not the only one who thought of Cindy Lou Who when I saw Princess Beatrice’s hat. What a creation this is. Any why were commentators referring to ladies hats as confections, as in, “What a wonderful confection Beatrice is wearing on her head.” I thought confection meant sweet treat, not ugly hat?? I am guessing maybe she knew this hat was fugly as hell and wore it only because is she a FW? Not sure it that’s better or if having bad taste is better? But at the end of the day she is still a princess. And I am not.

Party Dress

I do love Kate’s party dress, however, I wish she would have chosen something with a different shape than her ceremony wedding dress. Don’t get me wrong, I find this dress timeless and beautiful and all those things, but I would have liked to have seen something a little more form fitting. But once again she looks stunning and I need to know what kind of products she uses so that I too can look stunning for like 24 hours straight.

Pippa and Harry

I know that I am not the only one who is hoping for a Pipa – Harry hook-up?? That’s if I can’t land him of course. They are both said to be the wild siblings who like to party and have a good time. Plus, they look super cute together and how fun would that be if both brothers married commoners that just happened to be sisters? I know he was checking her out and how could she not have been checking him out in that hot military uniform? I think this quote from The Fug Girls pretty much sums it up: “Odds Kate sat down Pippa and Harry separately and ordered them not to hook up tonight: 5-1. Odds they will anyway: even money.” Chelsy Davy likely went home from the party in a rotten mood.

I am sad that the wedding is over and am already looking forward to the next Royal event. No matter what you think about the monarchy, you have to admit, they know how to do it up right! What were your favorite parts of the wedding? And what did you think about the dress??

Note: All pictures were obtained from google images. I am pretty sure you all know I wasn’t at the Royal Wedding and wouldn’t even try and pretend these are my own pictures.
