Where Would You Live?

If given the choice of anywhere in the world to live, where would you pick? While I love to travel to other countries, I have to admit, there is no place like the United States.  So until they get a Target on Champs d’Elysees, the chances of me moving overseas are less than slim.  But if you move there, I’d love to come visit!

Here are my top picks:
San Diego: What is not to like about San Diego?  Beautiful weather all year around, a great downtown area and the beach.  It’s close to LA, but not too close.  And it’s within driving distance to Vegas.  And I think L would love SD.  I really can’t think of any reason why I wouldn’t want to live in San Diego.
San Francisco: I wouldn’t want to live in downtown SF, but just somewhere in the Bay Area that would allow me to visit lots.  Because I would for sure want a car and I wouldn’t want to deal with it in the city.  I’d need a car so that I would be able to visit Napa and Sonoma, of course!  I could have cool weather or hot weather depending on my mood.
SEC Land: I’m thinking like Arkansas, Alabama, etc.  I’d hang out with Kelly Stamps and her friends and I’d spend my days cooking for B and L, going to fabulous play date parties with L and doing tons of crafty stuff.  Oh wait, I’d also host many fabulous themed parties for my friends.  I’d dress up for football games in my school colors and wear monagrammed clothes.
New York City: It’s no secret that I am a suburbs girl.  I drive everywhere.  So it would be a huge adjustment for me to live in a city.  But if I was going to do it, NYC would be my place.  I love the excitement that the city brings, the restaurants, the shopping, the entertainment, etc.  Plus, there is now a Target in Manhattan, so that’d be perfect.

Now that I have talked about my dream places to live, I think it’s only fair to talk about the finer points of my city (which I consider to be the “D” since I live in one of its suburbs). The “D” (aka Detroit) tends to get a bad rap from people. Some of that is totally fair, but much of it is not. We have the casinos, all 4 major sports teams (The Tigers, The Red Wings, The Lions and the Pistons), great museums, fine dining, and so much more. And no, you don’t need to bring a gun. Yeah, you may not want to end up in certain neighborhoods in the city at night, but I am pretty sure there are places like that in every city. We have some of the nicest people in the country here. We are polite and are eager to show our city off to tourists. But if you come, rent a car if you come visit since we have no public transportation at all! As for the Metro Detroit area as a whole, it’s great because there is always something going on. If we want to go out and have some family fun on the weekend, we always have our choice between multiple different fun events. Plus, we have all four seasons here, which I know I would totally miss.

So where would you live? And tell me what you love about your current city? If I were to come visit, what would I need to make sure to see?

Spread the love
