December 2012 PopSugar Must Have Box (SPOILERS)

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

So I haven’t gotten my December PopSugar Must Have Box yet (I am guessing hoping it will arrive Friday?), but I know a lot of people are super curious about this box and since I am giving one away, I searched around for some spoilers and decided to put up my review before I got the box. I’ll update this with my own pictures once I get the box.  Okay, fine, I just wanted to make another collage ;).

~Pinch Minimergency Kit ($13): I think this is the item I am most excited about in this box. I LOVE these and actually bought one this year at Sephora for my Secret Santa exchange person! I have had one in my bag for a few years and you’d be surprised how many times I have needed something from it. I am super excited to get a brand new fresh one! And if you hate it, this would be a perfect stocking stuffer. I *almost* put it on my Gift Guide for Her!

~Tea forte Petite Ribbon Box ($15): Seriously, what is it with these boxes and tea? I mean really? As you know, I don’t personally like tea, but I am going to find someone who loves it and I am going to gift them a TON of tea one day ;). That all said, this is a super cute box and the tea pyramids are even cuter.

~Bodum Bistro Double Wall Express Mugs (set of 2 – 10oz. size) ($30): These are cool and we have nothing like them, so I am pleased. I got some really cute Dylan’s Candy Bar Hot Chocolate from my Secret Santa, so these will totally get used. And B drinks giant cups of coffee at all hours of the day and night, so I know he will like these too.

~Marianella Antioxidant Moisturizing Milk Bar ($14): I like this better than the tea, but less than the Minimergency Kit. I know some people love bar soap, but I just don’t. I mean, maybe I should give it a try since, you know, I haven’t used it in like the last 10 years. According to the website, this is supposed to do tons of great things for your skin, so I am going to really use this. I am making it a New Year’s Resolution to use up ALL my products / samples before buying anything new. Crazy right?

~Bogdon Peppermint Pole Twists ($3.99): I haven’t had one of these in years, so I am super excited these are in the box. I think B and L will be excited as well and when they are happy, I am even happier. I kinda guessed that’d we’d get a peppermint bark or something this month and this is fairly close.

~Rent The Runway $30 Code ($30): After some initial confusion, it appears that this is a $30 gift card and you do NOT have to spend a certain amount to redeem it. (Unlike the $50 off $125 code we got from Birchbox this month). If you are having trouble redeeming it, give RTR customer service a call because I hear they are THE BEST.  And what’s better is that they have make-up and accessories you can buy, not rent and end up paying little to nothing out of pocket! And it does not expire until March 2013, so if there is nothing you like now, wait till there is!

~GoSwpye Microfiber Cleaning Cloths ($1.99): These don’t just get smudges off your iPhone / iPad, they get the germs and other nasty gunk that hang out there.  I love this and might actually get more so I can keep one in my bag, one for the car, one by the charger, etc.  I am not overly germ-o-phobic, but I like this idea a lot!

All totaled, I came up with a value of $107.98 for the box, which is well over the $35/per month cost of the box.  This may change when I actually receive the box and can better check out the sizes of things, but I think it’s pretty close.  Overall I think the box is okay.  Not amazing like I think a lot of us were expecting, but not totally crappy either.  I’d like it A LOT more if I liked tea I think!

I think this box is ok but I was really thinking it would be more Holiday themed then what we got. 🙁 Like you I don’t use bar soap so I’ll have to see what I can do with that. The glasses have me intrigued and the emergency kit is just too cute.

Thanks for the spoilers. This makes me really happy that I didn’t sign up for this box. There really isn’t anything listed that I have to have.

You should combine all your teas and use them for another giveaway in the future if you need one. I love tea! Have you ever seen those cute tea wreaths on pinterest? I want to make one? (old lady)

      Oops ! Not ?!

After seeing how great the October and November boxes were, I decided to give this a try. Thanks so much for posting spoilers, I’ve been trying to find them everywhere! I’m completely underwhelmed by these items, though.

    1. Sheila

Me too! I knew I wouldn’t like everything in the box, but guess I was hoping for something different.

  5. Shelby

I caved and looked at the spoilers. And I’m disappointed. -sigh- But thanks for putting them up. 🙂

Not very interesting. The Luxury Edition better be amazing.

After reading all of your posts about these exciting boxes I finally subscribed to one…I purposely did not read this spoiler alert because I want to be surprised when my first box arrives this month. 🙂

  7. Roxanne

I’m disappointed. I was really hoping they’d go all out since it is the December box. Oh well, maybe I’ll be more excited once it’s actually here. Fingers crossed that January is an awesome New Year’s Resolution themed box.

I’m still happy with this box! The mugs are adorable. U better not do a spoiler blog on the luxury box because I promised myself not to look!! I think for $35. I can’t complain about what we r getting. I have so much tea from all the boxes lately. I really need to either suck it up and drink it. Or gift it!

This will be my first box and I love the items for the most part. The “rent the runway” thing probably won’t be used. The Bodum mugs and tea have me really excited! I am a HUGE tea drinker, so if you want to get rid of all your tea let me know and I will even pay for shipping. 🙂

I won’t be getting this box… PopSugar had a billing issue on their end and so my card wasn’t charged and thus a December box wasn’t reserved for me… I’m really angry right now.

    1. Jennifer

Oh no! I thought they usually e-mailed if there was an issue?

  11. Alison Weeks

Grrr. I’ll be cancelling after this month, just not enough items in the boxes i’ll use to warrant the cost for me.

  12. Amy

This December PopSugar Must Have Box is so disappointing! I thought there would be awesome things in it since it is December after all. There is no unifying theme and nothing really stands out!

  13. Rochelle

Haven’t received my box yet but am so disappointed with the spoiler. After seeing the box for September and October, I couldn’t wait to get this. No ember was a huge let down and after reading the spoiler… Have to say, not very excited about this one either. Definitely canceling after this one.

This was my first Pop Sugar Box (after watching my girlfriends post about them for the last few months) and I’m pretty happy with it. I love the mugs and the minimergency kit. I’ve been eating the pepper sticks (so tasty!) and I drink a lot of tea, though mostly loose leaf – I may re-gift the tea box. I also do not use bar soap and I don’t really like the smell of my bar. Not sure what I’m going to do with that…

  15. Kristin

I actually really liked this box. I’ve been a lover of Tea Forte for about 7 years now. The mugs are great as well! Now I did expect it to be more Holiday themed but for $35 I think this is a great deal! I like the soap – being all natural makes it even better. The Minimergency kit is super cute, too. I am mildly (ok – really) irritated by PS Customer Service as when they had website issues, my bank (err, husbands) card was authorized but they did not reserve me or send me a Luxury Box.

So how does this box compare to months past? I only signed up for one month to try it out and I’m a little disappointed. The emergency kit is nice. I wouldn’t pay $13 for it, but nice. The mugs are nice, but again I wouldn’t have spent $30 for them for me. Haven’t tried the peppermint poles, but I’m sure I’ll like them. Not a tea fan and I don’t care for the soap so I’ll probably regift those. The GoSwype cloths are nice and probably the one thing I’ll get the most use out of. I’ll check out the Rent the Runway site, but it’s doubtful that I’ll use that. Trying to decide now if I extend my membership or cancel, opinions?
