The Little Book Club
The Little Book Club – Birds

Much to my surprise, my The Little Book Club shipment came today.  They are still running a little behind (this was April’s), but I’m cool with it.  I was actually expecting Birchbox (which didn’t come), so I was really excited to see this!  In case you don’t know, The Little Book Club is a brand-new book club that grows with your child. It’s $24.95/month and as your child grows and develops, the books that are sent become more advanced.

The Little Book Club
The Box

The Little Book Club ships via USPS Media Mail, which is fairly slow.  I didn’t get an e-mail this month when they shipped, but I feel like it was last week sometime?  Oh, and unlike last month, my mail lady left this on my porch and did not make me go to the Post Office to get it.  I guess that package theft ring in my neighborhood has been broken up?

The Little Book Club
First Look

I felt like something was different with the first look this month so I went back and looked at last month.  And instead of the foam wrap they used the last two months, it’s bubble wrap this month.  I didn’t recognize any of the books from the first look, so I was very excited!

The Little Book Club
The Information Card

I’ve mentioned it before, but I get The Little Book Club for WB. This way both boys can enjoy the items and it’ll take longer to “age out” of the subscription.  Our theme this month is “Birds” which is perfect for Spring!  Here’s what was included:

~“Make Way for Ducklings” by Robert McCloskey ($7.19): I remember reading this book when I was in school, but we don’t have it in our collection.  I am SO excited to read this to the kids and hope it’s something that they love as well!!

~“In My Tree” by Lorena Siminovish ($8.09): I want to say that this author / series showed in a some Citrus Lane boxes a while back, but I never got one.  So of course, I was excited to see it!  This is a book that L and WB can read together.  L is going to love making WB giggle with the little owl puppet!

~“Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus” by Mo Williams ($13.11): I am cracking up because I saw this at Target today and wanted to buy it, but didn’t.  And here it is!  This entire series looks super cute and I can’t wait to read it!!!

All totaled, my April The Little Book Club had a total value of $28.39, which is more than the $24.95 cost!  And I used Amazon prices, not suggested retail prices, so that’s a deal any way you slice it.  I love this subscription(*) and will be keeping it for a long time!

Did you get The Little Book Club this month?  What was your theme and what is the age of your little one?  If you are interested in learning more, click here.  If you want to subscribe, head over to Plum District where you can score your first month for only $13!! You can’t beat that!

Great books. We love Make Way for Duckling and I think we might have borrowed the pigeon book before.

  2. Cathy

I LOVE the pigeon – so funny and such a dramatic, expressive character! The “hot dog” book is also classic! At the very least, give it a ‘test drive’ from the library….

  3. Glenna

I love, love, love the pigeon books. This one is the best in the series though. Cracks me up everytime!

Mo Willems is one of my favorite children’s author. I love his Knuffle Bunny books too. 😀

I am SO tempted to try this out. But I’m on a no-buy this month. Boo.

The Pigeon books are awesome! Our daughter loves them! Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late is a must-read. Also, Mo Willems does a Piggie and Elephant Series that is really fun and engaging.

  6. Glenda

We got those books as well! LOVE the pigeon book! I had never even heard of the series until we got the box. I will need to get a few more!

We got ours as well–same books. I thought it was a great selection!

and CitrusLane did the “in my den” book a few months ago, so now we have 2 of the series. Same concept, just with a little bear 🙂

I signed up for this one a few days ago with Plum District! I’m guessing I’ll get May, since it was so late in the month, but I’m excited! My daughter loves books and her dad is a pushover at bedtime, reading book after book after book.

We finally received our Little Book Club box yesterday (but opened it today). I have to say they really need to look in to changing their shipping methods!! In other words stop sending them at the end of the month if your sending them via media mail!

Anyway – Our theme this month (well for May) was silly sounds (books received are for a 6 month old). We received Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear (w/ push to hear sound), Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and Moo Baa La La La.

Even though their shipping method sucks, I’m still in.
