The Bag

Okay, I spent some time today going through the boys clothes and selected some pieces to send to thredUP. I know a lot of people are interested in how the selling process works, so like I mentioned before, I’m documenting my experience.  I did read the updated selling guidelines thredUP announced today, however, since I ordered my bag last week, they don’t apply to me (although I did try to abide by them).  If you haven’t read the update, here it is:

from the thredUP blog: We will no longer be accepting and reselling items which cannot be listed at an initial price of at least $6.49 (there will always be items under $6.49 as we regularly reduce prices on items over time). This translates to roughly a $15 MSRP item for kids and a $25 MSRP item for womens.

Here’s what I am sending in:

~babyGap wool dress pants (5T): New with tags. $29.95 (per the tag)
~babyGap polo striped polo shirt (18-24 months): Used. $14.95 (per the GAP website)
~babyGap navy solid knit shorts (3T): New with tags.  $12.95 (per the tag)
~babyGap yellow v-neck sweater (4T). New with tags. $26.95 (per the GAP website.  No price on tag).
~babyGap solid blue polo (18-24 months): Used. $14.95 (per the GAP website)
~babyGap brown khaki shorts (2T): New with tags. $24.95 (per the GAP website.  No price on tag.)
~babyGap striped long sleeved tee / sweatshirt (18-24 months).  Used. $24.95 (estimate)
~izod fleece pullover (24M).  Used.  $20 (estimate)
~babyGap black fleece / thermal hoodie (2T).  Used. $24.95 (estimate)
~babyGap loose fit jeans (18-24 months). Used. $24.95 (per the GAP website)
~babyGap orange corduroy pants (4T). New with tags. $29.95 (per the tag).
~babyGap 1969 jeans (2T). Used. $24.95 (per the GAP website)

It took me longer than I expected to find items to send in because they don’t take 0-12 months and WB is still wearing 12 months and 12-18 months right now. And he’ll eventually wear all of L’s old stuff!  But I settled on the above twelve items and probably could have found a few dozen more if I’d spent a little more time at it.

What do I expect to receive for everything?  Hmm.  That’s a good question.  I’d probably be happy with $40??  Is that a lot?  Too little?  I never pay retail prices, so it’s not like I really paid $29.95 for those cords (which I LOVE but B insists no child of his is wearing).  No, I paid like $2.

All set to go!

I’m going to drop my bag off at UPS tomorrow (thredUP says it’s faster than USPS, but both are free) and I’ll be back with an update when I hear what they are paying!
