When Ella from I-Ella contacted me to see if I wanted to check out the June themed “New York Sample Sale…In A Bag” Soho Gift Bag, I couldn’t help but say yes. I love sample sales (or really the idea of sample sales since we don’t often have sample sales in Detroit) and wanted to see what goodies would be included.

I know some people have had shipping delays with I-Ella, but I’ve also heard that things have been improving. I hope it’s a trend that continues. My box shipped on July 2nd and arrived on July 8th. Clearly I am behind on a few reviews!

First Look

I was loving the first look and thought the packaging was great.  I also loved that I still had no idea what was inside!

~Kooba Layla Crossbody ($228): The first item I received was a Kooba Layla Crossbody bag in a leopard print.   Just seeing the Kooba bag brought me back fun memories of my first expensive bag purchase.  It was a white Kooba Sienna (scroll down to the middle of the page for a picture) with gold stitching and I loved it.  I don’t have the bag anymore (I ebayed it years ago), but I won’t forget my first bag love.  I probably won’t use this one in the crossbody style, but I can totally see using it as a clutch.  It’s roomier than a few of my other clutches and like snookie, I like animal prints 😉

The second bag contained a fun assortment of items, which I could liken to a gift bag from a red carpet event.  Not that I have ever been to one, I’m just saying.

The Second Bag

~Comodynes Easy Peeling ($4.87): These are facial exfoliating towelettes and are meant to be used before tan towelettes. I tested one out after I got the bag and really liked it.  I am trying it with a Tan Towel tonight.  They are kinda pricey at about $1.50 a pop, but for special occasions, they will be perfect.

~Herban Essentials Towelettes ($7.50):  I think these come in all The List bags, but I like them, so I can’t complain.  I wouldn’t buy them on my own (I carry baby wipes around for the kids and can just use those), but if I get them, I’ll use them!

~Armour Lip Gloss ($21): I’ve never heard of Armour before, but any lip gloss is a friend of mine.  It’s shiny but not sticky and is a great color.  I checked out their website and I now want ALL of the colors they offer ;).

~Priti NYC Nail Polish ($13.50): I can’t recall if I have ever tried Priti before, but I tested it out and really like it.  It’s a vegan brand and their polishes are 5-free.  The color is great and I love the design on the bottle.

All totaled I came up with a value of $274.87 for the I-Ella The List Soho Bag (New York Sample Sale in a Bag theme).  The Soho subscription retails a $129/month, but you do have to commit to a 3-month minimum.  I think this would be a fun treat every once in a while, but I couldn’t commit to 3 months so I hope this requirement is eventually dropped!

Ooh…the color of the polish is gorgeous!!

This was my 2nd I Ella bag and I wasn’t that impressed this time around. I got a ton of those wipes (all in the lavender scent, which I hate) and about 8 of the face peeling things as well. I did get a pretty snake print scarf which I may wear and a small gold bracelet that is cute. I really like your purse, though. I was hoping for something like that.

this is a horrible sub service. worst customer service ever. i ordered in may and have yet to receive anything! email go unreturned. they send these boxes to blog reviewers with amazing products to hook regular customers and then after they take their money they dont send anything or send horrible products not worth the value of the box. do NOT subscribe to this box!!!

I agree ashley. I continuously got my items late or not at all. I ordered their men’s box in December and never received anything. That was $100.00 down the toilet. I loved their products but poor customer service and unreliablility of whether you got the product or not.

Cynthia I would keep on them. I think the only reason I received my box was because I threatened legal action and also email one of her financial backer…

Has anyone ordered from them recently? I am curious if they are still around?

When I was reading your blog today, that is what I was thinking. The last time I heard from them was in February when I questioned about not receiving the men’s box and that was in February. When I realized that I was charged for a $49 box and the larger box, but only got one and did not get the men’s box, I gave up. I stuck with her for a full year and then realized I was being ripped off. And was done. I have a lot of nice things that I received while I had the subscription – jewelry. blazers, shoes, etc and love them, but………….. Pretty frustrating 🙁

Wow. Apparently, the owner – Ella Gorgla deceived all of her subscribers for the duration of 4 years. It is no wonder she finally shut the business down after conning people out of money. I-Ella is a total scam and Ella Gorgla is a con-artist. Employers and buyers beware!!!! I am still waiting for my refund.
