Hello Makana is a new (to me anyway) subscription box that delivers monthly, curated boxes of created-in-Hawaii products, direct to your doorstep. Boxes typically contain three to four items (food/snacks, health/beauty, commissions by artists, and/or music/media), alongside stories of the producers and communities included in the box.

The Box

Hello Makana ships directly from Hawaii using USPS Priority Mail. I don’t recall exactly how long it took to arrive, but I know it was less than a week.

First Look

I’ve never been to Hawaii (I so want to go though), but I was excited to bring a little Hawaii into my house.

The Information Card

The Makana Box includes an information booklet which tells a bit about each product and also tells about Hello Makana.  The June Makana Box theme is all about summer and includes some items so we all can share in the enjoyment of the season.

~Filthy Farm Girl (Filthy Gentleman Juniper Lime Tonic Soap) ($8): OMG I had the best time browsing this website last night.  The names of the soaps?  Hysterical.  And some are quite filthy.  I couldn’t even believe they went there with a few!  This smells great and B will totally use it.

~Ola Organics Maile Mist ($9): Ola Organics is a family owned hawaiian bath and body products and is focused on helping to make a sustainable Hawaii.  This mist smells amazing, however, it does make me wish I was in Hawaii using it….

~Maui Culinary Academy Vanilla Mac Nut Sugar ($9):  Mmmm, sugar!  With the exception of a few tiny “cheats” I haven’t had any sugar in weeks.  Hello Makana recommends trying this in coffee, desserts or summer strawberry dipping.  I think I may try it in chocolate chip cookies first.  My aunt makes the most amazing cookies (here is her recipe) and I would love to see what kind of twist this gives them!

~Extra: Sticky Notes: Hello Makana also included some sticky notes which of course I will put to use. I ned to check out some of those office supply boxes because I really love this kind of stuff!

Extra: Sticky Notes

All totaled I came up with a value of $26 for the June Hello Makana box.  I did estimate the cost of the spray though since I couldn’t find it online.  The box itself starts at $27/month, and I think it’s a great deal since I highly doubt you could purchase each of these individually and have them shipped to you for that price!  Plus, if you are missing Hawaii this is perfect!

Do you subscribe to Hello Makana?  What do you think?  And if you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here!  If you sign up by the 10th, you can still get the July box!

Disclosure: This box was received for review purposes. As always, all opinions are my own and no compensation was received!

Cookies look good, I’ll have to give them a try. That sugar sounds wonderful too.

I bought some soaps from the filthy farmgirl website, they have free shipping! The titles were too funny to pass up! I figured they would be good gifts for adult birthdays or white elephant gift.
