I got a ton of mail yesterday and one of the packages I received (*) was my August Beauty Box 5! In an effort to test out some new boxes, I bought a 3-month subscription a while back. I believe this is the last box of my subscription?
Beauty Box 5 ships via DHL Global Mail from Texas. However, unlike ipsy (who also uses DHL) which took 13 days this month, BB5 arrived in 6 days. Not too bad at all.
I saw a few familiar brands in the first look and a few things I’d never seen before. Since I like trying new things, I am always pleased with unknown items.
Beauty Box 5 doesn’t have monthly themes, but they do have a great information card! They list the prices for the full size of each product, so even if you just get a sample of it, you’ll see the full prize and also the size of the full priced product. It makes my cost breakdown so much easier!
~Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow (Bora Bora) ($14): This is bright! It’s highly pigmented so it packs quite a punch! I will likely end up gifting to this someone who wears brighter colors more often than I do.
~Swissco Nail File ($1.50): Like the information card says, who doesn’t need a new nail file? I can always use one that’s for sure. And a hot pink one is even better!
~Bask Heavenly Silk Daily Skin Lotion ($1.82): This is packed with vitamins, plant extracts and antioxidants and is suppose to provide anti-aging and firming benefits. I gotta say though, I’m not a huge fan of the smell. Or the packaging really. I know that doesn’t mean anything about the product itself, but I am a sucker for a cute label.
~H2O Plus Aquafirm + Micro-Collahgen Moisturizer ($7.94): H2O is one brand I am always excited about getting in boxes, but I never really head for it at the stores. I’m not overly sure why, but I don’t. I’m going to make it a point next time I am at the mall to go in though because they do have great stuff. This cream was thinner than I expected (it’s more of a lotion consistency), but absorbs well. I don’t see any improvement yet, but it’s only been a day ;).
~Nubar Nail Lacquers (Faded Jeans) ($4): Not many things I love more than mini nail polish! It’s not as sheer as I thought it would be, but it for sure needs a few coats.
All totaled I came up with a value of $29.26 for the August Beauty Box 5. I’d rank this box behind the July box, but ahead of the June box. This is the last month of my 3-month subscription and I’m undecided if I will continue or try another new box! The value is certainly there, but perhaps I should just give a new box a try?

Subscriptions start at $12/month and are even less expensive if you purchase a longer subscription (I bought a 3-month recurring subscription for $30 – i.e. $10/month).
