B and I decided to get Plated this week (we got Hello Fresh last week and I sent my brother a Blue Apron box this week, so it’s fair to say we like them all) and finished up our meals fast. I really like Plated‘s Tuesday deliveries. It’s a nice mid-week treat!

The Box

Plated ships via FedEx next day service. Don’t tell B, but I left the box on the porch basically all day because I like to see how fresh the food really stays if you aren’t home when it arrives and can’t pop it in your fridge right away. And I am pleased to report that everything arrived in perfect condition.

First Look

I don’t know if I have ever mentioned it, but everything (including the meats) ships fresh, not frozen.  And if you aren’t familiar, I should mention how Plated works.  You can get serving sizes anywhere from 2 plates – 6 plates per meal (i.e. 2 servings to 2 servings) and select from five different meal options each week (you can always skip weeks as needed). The only real “rule” is that you have to get at least 4 plates (i.e. 4 servings) per delivery. It can be one meal with 4 plates or two meals with 2 plates.

~Summer Vegetable Carbonara with Grilled Chicken: Oh my goodness this was amazing.  I don’t usually like a cream sauce on my pasta, but this was just too good not to eat. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t eaten a ton of cheese lately or what, but both B and I couldn’t get enough of it.  I swear I looked over at him eating and two seconds later I looked again and it was gone.  Loved this.

~Asian Soy Steak Tacos with Jicama Slaw:  I went outside my comfort zone and picked these steak tacos this week.  I don’t eat a lot of read meat, but I do like it, but slaw?  Now that I don’t know about.  I didn’t hate this slaw, but I also don’t want to add it every meal either.  The steak was amazing though.  B did a perfect job with it!!

What do you think of Plated?  Did you get a box this week?  If you are interested in giving it a try or want to learn more, click here to try two free plates (new customers only)!  Basically you’ll get 4 plates for the price of 2 ($30)!!  That’s 4 meals/plates for $30, which is less than $8/plate.  These food boxes work great for us because they get us out of our routine and get us trying new things.  If you order before this Monday (noon – EST) you’ll get a box on Tuesday, otherwise your first box will come the week after.
