Ramblings of a Suburban Mom

Today I’m smiling because:

~B and I are in Chicago!  We love this city and I really want to try to get back here (with the kids) for a new nights near the holidays.  So much to do!  Plus, it’s nice to have some alone time with B.  That and go to the Target in the city.

Chicago!
Chicago!

~L had a great time on his field trip and I’m looking forward to seeing pictures.  And both boys are having a great time with their Nana!  There will be some tears when she has to go home (even though she only lives 20 minutes away and we see her all the time) I’m sure.

~Our hotel?  Umm, fantastic.  I finally looked (B made the reservation) and when I realized we were staying at the Conrad I was all yes please!  Between prizes I have won (back in the day when I entered contests all the time) and hotel reward points (we’ve used them a lot including this trip and at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas), B and I have gotten to stay at some amazing places that wouldn’t have been on the radar otherwise.  So thankful!

I love all hotels that give you free slippers.

~All that time in the car yesterday gave me a chance to get caught up on comments and e-mails and I even had time to write a blog post!  I am hoping for some time to read on the way home.

~I finally made it to the Post Office yesterday.  So if you were expecting a package from me of any sort (trade, prize, whatever), it’s on it’s way!  I’m also smiling because there was no line there.  It was like a dream come true.

~B is going to take the kids “somewhere” tomorrow after his 5K (he never stops running) so I can get some cleaning / organizing done.  First on the agenda is figuring out where I am at in my holiday shopping.  Second is throwing together a bag of clothes for thredUP.  And third is sorting ALL those kids clothes.

~I found L’s missing pair of glow in the dark skeleton pajamas.  I KNEW I had some, but could not find them in the house.  I even tried to buy him a pair at GAP / Old Navy / anywhere that sells them and of course they were sold out.  But the pjs (which I am sure I bought on clearance last year) magically appeared in my spare bedroom.  Yay!

~We stopped at the casino on the way here yesterday! I didn’t win, but it was a nice visit regardless.

~I got an e-mail yesterday saying that my 2014 Erin Condren planner / address book shipped, which was nearly a week earlier than expected.  Yay!  I can’t wait to get it and start getting everything in it.  And don’t forget you have a chance to win one (from me) too!

I got this, but orange.

That’s it from here!  What’s got you smiling today?  Any big plans for the weekend?

Spread the love

I always mean to go downtown when the holidays hit but I am not good with a huge crowd and it gets crowded. I know I want to go to the kindlemarket which is usually in Daly Plaza. Going to eat under the tree in the Walnut Room of Macy’s (the Old State St Marshall Fields). We went there to eat as kids and I took my nieces and nephews and they still want to go (they are young 8,7, 4, 2, 10,5 etc). It is a magical place at the holidays. I just do not want to be there the day after Thanksgiving.

Oh I would not want to be there that day either! I am going to work on a holiday trip for sure though!

I’m glad you had a great time in Chicago. I’ve lived here for four and a half years and grew up in the suburbs. I love it 🙂

What contests did you used to enter that ended in you winning stays in cool hotels?! I am always looking at contests, but feel like the chances of me winning are super slim.
