December Birchbox Review – Holiday 2013

December Birchbox
December Birchbox

Is December my lucky month or what? Not only do I already have all my PopSugar boxes, but my December Birchbox came today!  In comparison I think it came around the 17th of the month last month, so a full week earlier!

The Box

How adorable is this month’s Birchbox?  Love it!  They ship via UPS Mail Innovations and takes about 4-5 days to arrive to me.  Boxes are shipped in batches by box. Meaning all Box 16’s go out at the same time, all box 20’s go out together, etc.  And boxes don’t ship in numeric order, so box 25 could ship before box 1.  At least that’s how I understand the shipping to work. Let me know if you know something I don’t!

The Holiday Birchbox Box (even cuter than the outer box)

I received Box #35 (*) this month, which was a fairly good box for me.  For sure not a punishment box  (**).  To find out what box # you got, go into your account and click on “Box” and then “Women’s Box”.  Scroll down to the “Box History” section and then click on “December 2013″.  The last number in your URL is your box number (mine says “bb35″ – meaning I have Box #35).  I explained how to review products for points a few months ago, so if you missed that, check it out here.

First Look

I am seriously loving all the packaging and prints they used this month!  Right away when I woke up this morning I went into Birchbox Mobile and checked my box contents.  They update on the 10th of the month and you know I can’t go without peeking!

The Information Card

The December Birchbox theme (if you could even call it that) is Holiday 2013. I’m not sure what the products have to do with the theme, but that’s okay.  Here is what I received:

~Eslor Skincare System ($15.43): I actually just received this set in my November The Bride Box!  I haven’t used that set yet and I am super glad because now I will be able to use it a few times to see what kind of benefit I get from it!

~Supergoop!® Daily Correct SPF 35 CC Cream ($2.23):I was shocked to see that this was actually smaller than the packet samples in the little kit above!  Still I should be able to get a few uses out of it to test it out. And I love BB / CC creams of all sorts and brands, so this was a perfect fit for me.

~Number 4 Non-Aerosol Hairspray ($4.50):  I never have to buy hairspray anymore because they always appear in my boxes.  This smells good and didn’t leave my hair all crispy.  It smoothed my frizzy winter hair down quite nicely!

No. 4 Non Aerosol Hairspray

~Fatty Sundays Gourmet Chocolate Covered Pretzels:  Yes!  I was actually hoping not to get the Toasted Coconut when I saw this was in my box and I didn’t!  Yay!  I love this and between this and yesterday’s PopSugar, I am inspired to buy more for stocking stuffers.  For myself.

~The Honest Company Winter Wellness Exclusive Kit (Healing Balm) ($3.24): Based on the website, I was kind of expecting little samples of everything in the kit.  It was not to be.  I subscribe to The Honest Co. already though so I’ve basically tried everything they offer.  Healing Balm is one of my favorites and I am happy for the purse sized one!

All totaled my December Birchbox had a value of $25.40.  Including the points I get for reviewing the products (which is equal to $5) and the points I got for purchasing the box (***) (which is equal to $1), the box had a real total value of $31.40.  All in all a good Birchbox for me!

Do you subscribe to Birchbox? Did you get your box yet this month? What number was it?  If you don’t subscribe (it’s only $10/month) and are interested in learning more, click here.  Last I heard the wait list was only taking a few days so it might be a great time to join!

(*) If you want to see all the boxes this month, click here and change the 1 at the end to anything from a 2 to 86 since there were 86 (in comparison, last month there were 59 box variations) box variations this month.  That is an insane number of boxes this month!!
(**) This is the term people use if they get a box they hate or one with all foil packet samples, etc.
(***) You only get points for purchasing the box if you buy an annual subscription (or 3-month, 6-months, etc.). You don’t get points if you are on a month to month subscription.
