Edited to Add: Carefree Crafts has closed their doors.
Carefree Crafts, who kindly sent me this package to review, is a monthly subscription service which delivers fun craft kits to your door every month (or a la carte). They are perfect for preschool and elementary ages kids (aka L) ages 3-7. Subscriptions start at $17.95/month and contain five (or more) complete craft kits.
Carefree Crafts ships via USPS First Class Mail and usually only takes a day or two to arrive to me. This actually came at the beginning of the month, but with all the holiday craziness, it took L and I a while to get to it.
I was super excited by the Christmas crafts because I they all looked so fun in the preview I saw last month. Also, L doesn’t bring home crafts like he used to from preschool and daycare, so it’s always fun for him to do some crafts.
The December Carefree Crafts theme aaas “Merry Christmas” and included six crafts to create special memories with your little ones and build confidence and fine motor skills at the same time. Here is what was included:
~Gingerbread House: This was probably one of the easiest gingerbread houses I have ever made. Everything attached with glue dots which made it super easy. L is getting very good with glue dots. I am impressed. We mainly followed along with the example in the picture and I think it turned out great!
~Reindeer Gift Bag: This was a totally L project. I basically just handed him the bag and left him do with it what he pleased. And I love it! I don’t know who will get this, but I am sure they will be pretty pleased with it.
~Chalkboard Sled: L and I loved this one! It was supposed to be done with glue dots, but we decided to use the regular glue that came in the package instead. And I think it turns out perfect. We did this on Christmas Eve, so we didn’t get to really use it, but we will or sure save this for next year. And the year after! We had a similar one that we used this year and L loved it.
~Decorate Your Own Christmas Tree: This might have been a little young for L, but he didn’t seem to care and randomly stuck stickers on it as we were waiting for the sled to dry so he could write on it.
~Ornament Trio: Ohhh, I love these. Perhaps my favorite project from Carefree Crafts. L and I worked on these together and hung them on the tree right away. I really love the snow globe snowman one and I’d love to do something like this with the kids pictures in it!
~Christmas Paper Chain: Since we did this so late it would have been pretty pointless to make the paper chain. We are planning on saving it for next year to do. L always wanted to make one and we never have, so this will be a very easy craft to do next year because all the paper is precut which is awesome!
