January 2014 Silly Rhino

I don’t enter a ton of giveaways / contests anymore, but if it appears in my Facebook newsfeed and looks easy I’ll do it.  And I did just when I saw a Silly Rhino one pop up and guess what?  I won!  Woot woot!  The first winner didn’t respond in time (so sad), but when they picked again it was me!

Silly Rhino is a monthly subscription box suitable for babies ages 0-4. Each month they include only 4-5 of the the safest, environmentally conscious and highest quality products. Items made include toys, personal care items, accessories and gear.

The Box

Silly Rhino ships via FedEx Ground which is very quick and therefore makes me very happy.  I’d pay a few bucks more if I could get all my FedEx Smart Post shipments upgraded to regular FedEx.  I so wish they’d offer that.

First Look

I’d seen a few January 2014 Silly Rhino boxes which made me even more anxious to get my hands on mine!

The Information Card

The January Silly Rhino theme was “All you need is LOVE” and includes items especially selected to help strengthen emotional bonds a child shares with his or her parents.  These items can be used during that undivided quality time yo have with your little ones.  Here is what was included:

~Earth Paints ($7): I have never heard of this brand before, but they bill themselves as the safest paint product on the market.  You mix these with water and you’ve got paint!  I love that these take up basically no storage space and just need water to make it happen.  So neat!

~Building Blocks by Howells Products ($12):  I spent hours and hours playing blocks as a kid and I hope mine will do the same.  Right now L builds them and WB knocks them down and laughs ;).  Sometimes it’s a game to see if L can build them before WB gets to him. They both seem to enjoy it.

~FunBites Heart Shaped Cutter ($13):  We have one of these and love it.  I swear, both my boys eat better when their food is cut into shapes. I have no real idea why or if this is a universal thing, but they do.

~“Hush Little Baby” by Chronicle Books ($6.95):  A cute board book which we don’t have already is always a good thing!  We are always happy to get a new book to read.

~Framed Quote ($15):  Adorable! I already have this Winnie the Pooh quote up in WB’s room!  It actually (sort of) matches too, which works out quite nicely.

All totaled I came up with a value of $53.95 for the January 2014 Silly Rhino Box.  Boxes are $35.99/month and decrease in price with a longer subscription.  I enjoyed the curation on this one and loved discovering all these new products!
