In my “I’m Totally Trying It – January 2014” Edition, I mentioned I was planning on making a Valentine’s Day Ribbon wreath. Well, today was the day.

I forgot to take a picture of the supplies we used, but they were:
~Spools of Ribbon (ranging from 9ft to 12 feet). Just plain old ribbon.  We used about 4 1/2 spools each for ours.
~Pins (buy a box)
~11″ Heart Shaped Wreath (we got ours at JoAnn Fabric for $4.99)
~Scissors (to cut the ribbon)
I’m not sure what the total cost was, but something tells me it wasn’t an overly cheap project to do!

The first step, which my mom did before I got there, is to cut all the ribbons into 2″-3″ pieces. We got ribbon of a few different widths, with various patterns and in different shades of pink.  We just picked ones we liked best and used those.

The project itself is simple.  You take a strip of ribbon, make a little loop with it and pin it in.  And then do it over and over and over again.  We alternated between patterns and widths, which is always easier than it sounds!  I’d say it took maybe an hour, hour and a half to finish?  Not bad at all.

Getting Started

I tried to take an up close picture so you can see the pins in there.  I pinned on the inside of the loop so that it sits in a circle on top of the wreath.

And that’s seriously it!  I am going to hot glue a piece of ribbon to the back so that I can hang it up, but that’s it!  Way easier than expecked. I might even try to do a bigger one next time.

What do you think?  Have you started decorating for Valentine’s Day yet?  Done any crafting lately??

I love it… Maybe you could just pin a ribbon to the back for hanging, maybe!? You’re lucky your mom helps with those crafty projects!! I might try one — sounds more fun than chores and errands!

I thought about that. But I am afraid it would crack off? Although I guess it’s not heavy?

you could craft on those “Cindy Days” you have in your EC planner!

Glue away — I don’t want to be responsible and I did have one crack from falling! Oh — maybe that IS why I got those stickers!

        1. Jennifer

It totally is why you got those ;).

For my “I’m totally trying it” January, I’m going to attempt a cute monogram yarn wreath I saw on etsy – that I know I can make for less. That’s my plan this weekend during football 🙂

We did something similar for 4th of July with topiary balls! They turned out great too (although I think my mom did most of the stuff)!

My friend and I (both of us totally non crafty types) are going to attempt to make this on Friday. We are adding wine to the mix in the hope it will help!
