I received a February 2014 Birchbox to review earlier in the month, but my actual February Birchbox arrived last week and I wanted to make sure to review that one as well. I always find the number of different Birchbox box combinations to super interesting and I am guessing others do as well!
Birchbox ships via UPS Mail Innovations and generally takes about 5-6 days to arrive to me. Birchbox ships their boxes in batches (I believe), so all box #10’s go out at the same time, all #2’s go out at the same time, etc. They don’t necessarily ship in order, so box #10’s could arrive after people who received box #50 got theirs.
Birchbox updates their website with the contents of the box on the 10th of the month and I always peek. I know some people get their boxes before the 10th, so they can’t be spoiled even if they want to, but I don’t think that has ever happened to me.
My February 2014 Birchbox was Box #29 (*). To find out what box # you got, go into your account and click on “Box” and then “Women’s Box”. Scroll down to the “Box History” section and then click on “February 2014″. The last number in your URL is your box number (mine says “bb29″ – meaning I have Box #29). I explained how to review products for points a while back, so if you missed that, check it out here.
The February 2014 Birchbox theme was “Step and Repeat” and was a partnership between Birchbox and the Beauty Editors of US Weekly to share some of the expert’s red carpet secrets. I love when BB does collaboration boxes and this one was no exception. Here is what was included:
~Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner ($11.25): I was lucky enough to receive a sample of this in my review box AND this one! I totally love it and I have the full sized one on it’s way to me (I bought the kit). If you haven’t tried this yet and are looking for a smooth pore cover up, look no further!
~Joan Vass L’eau de Opale (~$2): Meh. I didn’t love this scent. It’s a floral scent which I am growing to love, but it’s just too strong for me personally.
~OPI Sheer Tints in I’m Never Amberrassed ($2.25): Ohh, once I realized that this was an option in the February Birchboxes, I was hoping to receive one! It gives a nice colorful shine and I will probably pick up a few of the other colors.
~Serge Normant Dry Conditioner ($9.38): I have tried lots of dry shampoos and am a fan of most of them, but I have never heard of a dry conditioner! This is even better than a dry shampoo in my opinion. It detangles which is one of my main issues (I so need a haircut) and leaves my hair shiny!
~32 Oral Care Effervescent Breath Crystals with IsoVoxy ($1.48): These came in my review box as well (except I only received two packets in that box) and I liked them there and I like them now! They are a cool idea and they work.
All totaled my 2014 February Birchbox had a value of $26.36. Including the points I’d get for reviewing the products (which is equal to $5) and the points I received for purchasing the box (**) the box had a real total value of $31.36. I thought both Birchbox boxes I received this month were fabulous and thought that this was a great month in general.
Do you subscribe to Birchbox? What number box did you get this month and what was in it? If you don’t subscribe (it’s only $10/month) and are interested in learning more, click here. Last I heard the wait list was only taking a few days (I’d love if someone could verify this though) so it might be a great time to join!
