Loot Crate (who kindly sent me this box to review) is a monthly subscription box full of hand-picked, awesome geek and gamer products. Each month, for less than $20, you’ll receive 6-8 products which are guaranteed to have a value of $30 or more.

The Box

Loot Crate ships via USPS Priority Mail and arrived to me in about two days.  It always comes nice and quickly and I totally appreciate that.

First Look

I hadn’t seen any Loot Crate spoilers out there yet, so I had no idea what to expect when I opened the box.  I knew what the theme was, but to tell you the truth, I had no idea how the theme would relate to the crate.

The Information Card

The February 2014 Loot Crate theme is “Warriors!” and features Frederator this month.  I am not a geek or a gamer, but I have known about all the characters and television shows and games in the past few months, but this one I had to do some reading up on!  Here is what was included:

~Alpha Battle T-Shirt ($15): It took me a minute on this one to realize that the shirt has popular characters from lots of popular video games.  My favorite is the Donkey Kong one!  I loved that game (although was never very good at it).

~Bravest Warriors Bow Tie (~$15): I am not familiar with Bravest Warriors (perhaps because I have that odd aversion to watching tv online), but I know that L is going to love this bow tie.  Man will he ever love it.  He loves ties and bright colors, so it’s a win-win!

~GPS Cinch Bag (~$5):  This is again a Bravest Warriors reference and is to be used to carry around all of our loot from this month.

~Dunny Sideshow Box Figure ($9.95): I am a complete sucker for a blind box item!  It doesn’t matter the character, how familiar I am with it, nothing.  I just love them.  And it makes me want to go out and collect the rest of the boxes so I can have the entire set!

~Bacon Love Card & Bravest Warrior Comic and Stickers (~$10): This bacon card is hysterical ad would have been awesome for Valentine’s Day. I will save it for next year.  The box also includes a digital comic and a Bravest Warrior Sticker, which L will certainly steal away ;).

All totaled I came up with a value of about $54.95 (I had to do some estimating) for the February Loot Crate!  Loot Crate is $19.37/month (that includes shipping) and always provides a great value!  I didn’t love this one as much as the last two months, but I think that’s because I wasn’t familiar with Bravest Warrior (which does look pretty cool though).

So this looks fairly G-rated, but not all aspects of nerd or game culture are. Would you recommend this for say, an 11-year old? Have your experiences been pretty kid-safe?
I mean, I’d hate to order this then have it be the ONE Grand Theft Auto themed box…
    Are there options for ordering?
    Thanks!

There was a Walking Dead theme a few months ago which may not have been too kid-safe? You know, there is a Nerdblock Jr. box out now that could work??

That one was a zombie themed box, which I think is their go to October crate theme. They had the walking dead blind box in the 1 year crate in august and an ewoking dead shirt a few months later but have not done an exclusively walking dead box. The boxes have a mix of franchises in them and you never know what til u get the box since looters are very anti spoilers the loot crate app can seem pretty hostile around ship date if people try to spoil the crate for everyone I’d say nerd block jr is a better bet for younger kids. Also I don’t think there has ever been gta stuff in loot crate lol

I was afraid I’d say there had never been GTA in a box and then boom
The next one would have it!

Heads up, aside from the themes, they also seem to send some highly caffeinated products which may or may not be safe for the kiddos! I second Nerd Block Jr.

I am soooooooo jealous! I’m a huge bravest warriors fan. I’m surprised they didn’t put in something with catbug on it!

I’ve subscribed for my 13 year old for the last 4 months. Everything has been fairly g rated, though they did send a themed shot glass once. Even the month that was zombie themed had a shirt with Zombie Ewoks with the phrase “ewoking dead”…cute and funny. I can’t wait seeing what’s in the box each month and we haven’t been dissapointed until this months. The t-shirt was the only thing we liked, so very glad this was a t shirt month. (FYI they are not the best about getting the correct size to you despite verifying t shirt size right off the bat…it’s been very hit or miss and they aren’t very apologetic or accomodating about it) There’s no way he’ll make any use out of the bag, bowtie, or sticker. Still a great value in a typical month as the contents are usually better. The t shirt was worth the $20 spent between cost and ship.

I have to say they are super creative and come up with the coolest stuff!

My daughter is a huge bravest warriors fan. My hubby(who we get loot crate for) had never heard of it. She was super excited…lol. Catbug is pretty cute though. The character is actually played by a little kid. The first two minutes of the Dramabug episode were the cutest.
