First Look

The first look had me wanting to see more!!  MunchPak doesn’t include an information card because every Pak isn’t exactly the same.  You may get some different items than someone else who ordered!  Here is what mine included this month:

~Laffy Taffy: This was gone before I could even tell B it had arrived. I’d say he liked it.  He didn’t even share it with L!

Laffy Taffy

~Fruit Pastilles: We haven’t gotten to these yet, but if L knew we had them I know he’d want to crack into them

January 2014 MunchPak
Fruit Pastilles

~KEX Choklad:  I think they sell these at IKEA?  Either way, they are good.  They are chocolate covered waffle crisps.  What could be bad about that?

~Kinder Bueno: I love Kinder chocolates and still wish we had Kinder eggs here (I will not eat that toy instead, I swear).  These were good and I’d buy them again!

~Double Barrel Cooked Salami Sticks: B ate these up very quickly and never said a word about them.  If they were bad, I would have heard.

~Nekit Cookies – Peanut Butter: Nothing really to report here. You know what peanut butter on crackers tastes like.  And if not, it’s good.

~Cadbury Fudge: Yum!  Why have I never seen this before?  It’s a chocolate bar covered in fudge.  Genius.

~Hi-Chew: We got the cherry flavor of these last month and L loved them!  I actually think the mango is even better!

~Cow Tales: B was surprised I hadn’t heard of these before, but they were totally new to me.  They are like chewy, but with a caramel filling.  I don’t know how to describe it.  L wasn’t a fan, I thought it was okay and B likes them.

~Cadbury Curly Wurly: I mentioned it last month, but I love these! So yummy.  I was quite pleased to see this one again this month!

~Cadbury Wispa: It’s kind of like the inside of a whopper, but not really.  I always like Cadbury stuff from other countries too.

~Quaker Chewy Granola Bar: A school snack for L!

~Cheez-It: I was going to save these for a snack for L, but WB got to them first. He quite enjoyed them!

~Yan Yan Vanilla Cream Dip: Love these!  We never seen to pick up the vanilla ones (we usually get the chocolate or strawberry), so this is a nice change of pace.

~Goo Goo Clusters: Haven’t tried this one yet.  It’ll happen soon though.  I have been eyeing in the pantry for a few days now.

~Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons: OMG these are awesome!  Does anyone know if they sell these in the States?  So good.  Just little buttons of chocolate.  Perfect.

~El Sabroso Pork Rinds: I don’t like pork rinds, but B does.  He cracked into these yesterday while watching “Bad Grandpa”.  I can’t even believe I just admitted that I watched that.

~Salsitas Spicy Salsa Tortilla Rounds: I don’t know who liked these better?  WB or I? LOL!  I need to find more that’s for sure!

That’s a difficult question. I don’t think I’ve ever had a snack that’s just available where I live! I live in Illinois, so some form of corn??

  2. Dara

This is such an awesome box. I’ve been wanting to try it, but I know my diet would be out the window. It may be worth it though 🙂

  3. Avery Germaine

    Lala’s Lemonade in Austin. Mmm.

  4. Melissa B

Local snack? Hmmmm…We have lots of wine. Does that count? 😉

  5. Cheryl

    Hebert Candy, so good!

  6. Christy Q

    Tastykakes 😉

  7. megan

    Locally made King Cake!

  8. Wendy

This looks like a fun box to try! ???

  9. Elise

Not sure there is one here…crawfish are always around, but I don’t think that’s just a Texas thing 🙂 When I lived in Wisconsin there were a lot 🙂

  10. Polly

OH MY GOSH they gave you English stuff!!!! The fruit pastilles, the Wipsa (best chocolate bar EVER!!!) the Curly Wurly.. I grew up on these things and i get English sweets cravings SOOOO much! At my local Publix, they have some English foods in the Ethnic Aisle (gotta love that! We’re ethnic!) And I take my boys to buy English chocolate for a treat sometimes. Oh and the fudge!!! I grew up on those “a finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat…” look up the commercial on Youtube 🙂
    LOVE THIS BOX!!!

  11. lynsey

I’m from the UK but moved to the US 5 years ago, if you have a publix nearby you can find some british chocolate like buttons, whispa etc

  12. Diana Kang

Andy Capps hot fries aren’t “local only” but hard to find and I’m addicted.

  13. Meg Mc

Jones Potato Chips. Hands down, so good. I am originally from around Mansfield, OH, which is where they are manufactured. I live in Columbus now, and you can only find them in a couple of places. I send them in care packages to all of my out of state and military friends!

  14. Ashlee

They sell Salsitas at big lots! Get them all the time. A HUGE bag for like 2 bucks. Good deal.

    1. Jennifer

Ahhh, they do? I need to go a Big Lots around here!

  15. Nicole

I’m not sold on this box yet. There are a lot of things that are not unusual and that I don’t like it seems

  16. Sylvia

Bunnie Cakes cupcakes in Miami — deeeelicious!

  17. Sher

    Cheezies! They are amazing!

  18. Jean Eckert

Not sure that these are local to just Saint Louis anymore, but you gotta love some Toasted Ravoli and a piece of Gooey Butter Cake 🙂

  19. Joanne

We have a lot of Asian snacks and spicy Mexican candies that I enjoy.

  20. Pilar

Derby pie is my favorite local snack

  21. Melanie K.

Tastykakes! Best thing about New Jersey!

  22. alison

  23. Kathy

    Pepperoni rolls

  24. Karen

    Cora Lee Candy

  25. Katy

Robert’s Relish Barn Salsa! We discovered it during our Texas Icepocalypse in early December. So good!

  26. Diana Vuong

Chocolate truffles, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and Carmel with chocolate drizzled on popcorn!

  27. Ashley C.

If you ever want to buy any of the food, check Amazon first!! I searched the Dairymilk buttons — and they had a big bag for like $10! I’m sure they would have other sizes, too. But they are always my first go-to for everything!

As for local “snacks” in Maine it was always maple sugar candy or needhams! Man I miss some good needhams! {Sort of like a chocolate dipped coconut patty}. Not really sure about North Carolina. I guess a lot of people around here drop boiled peanuts into their Coca Cola? Supposedly its pretty good …

    1. Jennifer

Ohhh I will do that! Thank you! They are so good!

  28. Alexia561

Can’t think of anything local that you couldn’t get elsewhere, but I do love the salt water taffy they sell on the boardwalk! Does that count? 🙂

  29. Iris

Hmmm, I guess a local snack would be passionfruit flavored caramels with almond slivers. 😀

  30. Kristin t

    Pepperoni rolls

  31. Krista

I have this thing for Cherry Bings that i have only been able to get when i go home to Iowa- I live in FL.. anyone live in Iowa.. i am so jonesing for BINGS!!! I miss alot of the things from home, kids , grandkids, family, but truthfully.. I don;t miss the snow…

    Krista…

  32. oh dear lord, you haven’t had a goo-goo cluster? what’s next, a moon pie? love zapp’s, from new orleans, but generally available in the south. yum. (they are kettle chips)

    1. Jennifer

I actually have had a Moon Pie. LOL!

  33. Jenny

Oh WOW hmm what is a local snack only available here? I have no idea. LOL Can I say bojangles? They don’t go all the way up to you. Or maybe Cheerwine or SunDrop. Well for Sundrop it would be more appropriate to say Cherry Lemon Sundrop. Talk about southern. 😉

    1. Jennifer

I don’t think I know what any of that is???

      1. Jenny

Bojangles is a chicken place. Like Chik Fila but spicier http://www.bojangles.com/ if you come down this way you need to try it.
Cheerwine is a Cherry Soda flavor kindof like Dr Pepper but more cherry less soday. LOL http://www.cheerwine.com/ WOW and looking up the link for you I just saw I can get it delivered in bottles. That would be AWESOME.
Sundrop is like a mountain dew drink and loca restaurants here make it with some cherry syrup or cherry Fanta mixed in so you get Cherry Lemon Sundrop. http://www.sundropbottling.com/
I told you southern goodies. Oh and another thing I have trouble getting up north is Dr Pepper. No Rootbeer is not the same as Dr Pepper and that seems to be what alot of places tell me.

  34. Aoife K

I’m from Ireland and always seem to load my case with sweets for the return trip to the states, LOL. These aren’t local to the U.S., but I REALLY miss King’s Crisps from back home. They easily beat Lays and Ruffles any day of the week.

As for the Buttons and Bueno (my fav!) they sell those in Cost Plus World Market, if you have one near you. 🙂

  35. Madelyn

    Pearson’s Nut Goodies!

  36. Stephanie

I can’t think of any snack just available by me but a specialty snack is cheese curds.

  37. Sam Stamp

Hoffman Hotdogs and Salt Potatoes are my favorites!

  38. Maureen

I do not think that there really is something that I like that is made just in this area.

  39. Nia

    Cracker Jacks c:

  40. Mae Lin

    Buns from Maxim’s!

  41. Jill

Hoagieville cheese fries, available only in Missoula, MT.

  42. Kali

We call the Salsitas chips “Crack Chips” at work because they are so addicting- lol!

  43. Nikki K

    Beignets!!

  44. Amy Ballou

I don’t know that South Carolina really has a specific one, I guess since Im not too far from Myrtle Beach I would say salt water taffy?

  45. Christy

    I caved and ordered a box……YUM!

  46. Kelsey N.

I’m really not sure what we have here that isn’t really anywhere else. I’m pretty sure cheese curds are a Wisconsin thing though. We also have cow tales here too!

  47. Roro

I want the Bueno.. I love them.
I’ll be back home in Ireland in April and will overdose on them..
    nom nom nom

  48. Chris

Lobster rolls and baked beans..mhm, mhm.

  49. kelly t

Tastycakes! Tastyclair pie is the best!

  50. Bethany

I’m not much of a soda drinker, but here they sell Barq’s red creme soda and it’s so good! I haven’t been able to find it anywhere else, but that could have changed.

  51. Susan

The hands down best chocolates ever are Esther Price candies, made in Dayton, OH where I grew up. They are awesome. They sell them at most Kroger stores, I think.

  52. Beth

I don’t have a favorite snack that’s only available locally, but when I’m home with my family in Tucson there’s a local chain called Eegee’s which sells their own slushies made with real fruit. They are oh so incredible in the Arizona heat.

As far as Cadbury’s buttons, there are some U.S. based British shops that sell them online. I usually place an order for the holidays to get British treats for my loved one (and myself!) My favorite this year was the Cadbury’s chocolate frog with pop rocks. Cadbury’s usually sells tins and stockings full of mixes of their chocolate bars (sometimes in mini sizes!)

    1. Jennifer

Thank you! I am going to check that out!

  53. Katrina

Oooh…do local donuts count? If so, Gourdoughs. So amazing. If you’re ever in Austin, you have to go – they have the craziest flavors. (Round Rock Donuts is good for regular donuts, too.)

Bugles were my FAVORITE chip as a kid. It amused me to eat dips with them…I think I thought of them like savory mini ice cream cones. (Yeah…I was kind of weird. Well, I still am really…)

  54. Emily k

Big bob Gibson barbecue pork baked potatoes!! Mmmm…okay…its a meal, but I want it for a snack!

  55. Samantha

I love the salt water taffy that’s available here in Florida….especially the ones from Key West.

  56. Cristina

I actually just saw the CurlyWurlys at the store near my house that seems to have tons of ethnic foods. I think they import a lot of stuff. I love looking through their candy isle! If you can’t find them, I can pick some up and mail them to you! They probably have the buttons too, I’d just have to go look.

  57. nicole p

not sure if they are only local, but zapps voodoo chips in new orleans.

  58. Cathy@Five Boys

We love Buckeyes that are classic to Columbus, Ohio (although I’m sure they are sold elsewhere)!

  59. Erin

I don’t think there is anything local that you can’t get anywhere else.

  60. Tiffany

Who could say no to a box full of snacks? Some great new ones I’ve never heard of and some old stand by favorites.
    beijos,
    Tiffany

  61. Rita Morgan

Planning to go back to UK in May – June for a visit , I’ll get some Cadbury’s chocolates for you and send them.

    1. Jennifer

      Yes please!!!!!!

  62. Jen K

I dont think I have anything exclusive to where I live. Pretty sad. Well, we have those famous sliders – White Manna. It’s good but not something that people would crave for.

  63. kristina o.

I LOVE CADBURY everything. The buttons are my favorite. I can usually find them at international food shops. If you have a World Market in your area I think they might sell them there.

  64. Jason

    Barrel O Fun Chips

  65. terri s

I love Cadbury candy! and around here maybe Turkey Creek pork skins so good.

  66. Kayla

Coming from the central coast in California, I live close to Castroville which is famous for their artichokes. I know you can get artichokes anywhere, but it’s nice to know where the artichokes are coming from and they are so close to home!

  67. Phxbne

    Cactus candy!

  68. Rebecca

I think bagels. I know bagels are ubiquitous, but not NYC bagels. Mmm cinnamon raisin.

  69. Amber Conaway

    Grippo’s potato chips YUM

  70. susana

I really don’t know what is the candy for texas!!! but i do buy pork rinds a lot

  71. Vicky

Not necessarily a snack but Foxon Park soda is a locally made soda that I adore. They have one flavor called Gassosa that is like Sprite but a million times better! http://www.foxonpark.com/

    1. Jennifer

      Oh, that sounds great!

  72. Vicky

And btw – you can order Cadbury Buttons on Amazon!!! I am obsessed with British Cadbury chocolate – it is way better than the American versions. Have you ever tried a Twirl? That is my fave – it is like a Flake, but wrapped in chocolate so it’s less messy.

  73. Nicole

I love me some european snack packs!

  74. Nicole

And I live in Sacramento, California….I can’t think of any local specific snacks. Although, we are home of Blue Diamond, King of almonds 🙂

  75. Amber

    Peanut chews 🙂 Philly favorite

  76. Des

Favorite local snack is…black and white cookies. Everyone has them now, but I think the local delis have the best ones.

  77. Dawn

It used to be Tastykakes when I was in to sweet snack foods. I also like Pub Fries which are hard to find but I’m not sure if they are local to where I live.

  78. Amy

It’s not a snack really but Taylor Ham is really a NJ thing and it’s soooooo good!

  79. Erin C

    Conns potato chips.

  80. Summer

Theres a local picklery(?) that makes horseradish and jalepeno pickles and they are fantastic!

  81. Gabby

I want a munch pak. Asking my mom to get a subscription so i can eat all the snacks.

  82. Gabby

And I love this little ice cream store called red’s they these little ice cream sandwiches but the coating is different. It’s hard to explain but it’s really good.

  83. Lacey Burd

Frankenmuth Fudge in MI has a Orange Decadence fudge that is amazing!

  84. Gabrielle S

Definitely not the healthiest box, but let’s be real…I’d munch every single thing in there!

  85. Michelle

It’s not really a snack, but I love fry sauce made in Heber City! Yum!

  86. wesaint101

How much do you/anyone else pay for shipping? I have to pay 7.25, and it’s the original one. Quite expensive shipping if you ask me.

    1. Jennifer

I think it’s about the same to MI.
