Birchbox Man
Cost: $20/month.
Ships To: United States.
Oh my! I just received the tracking for B’s April 2014 Birchbox Man box yesterday and I so was not expecting it to arrive today. Today was a crazy (fun) subscription box day and I loved it.
If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you or the man in your life a box with beauty, grooming, and lifestyle samples from both up-and-coming and well known brands. Each delivery will include a mix of categories, as well as lifestyle items.
Birchbox ships via USPS and took only two days to arrive this month. I got the tracking for it on the 25th, but it left on the 24th. I noticed that instead of shipping from the East Coast, this one left from Indiana. I hope it works this way with the woman’s boxes from now on too!
B’s March Birchbox Man was in a bigger box than normal. It was probably double the size of a normal box? I just barely had a chance to peek and see what was in B’s box this month (he never peeks but I always do) before it arrived, but I should have been expecting the bigger box because I have no clue how I thought that would fit in the regular little box.
B received box #3 this month (*), and like I said, I had peeked so I knew what was in it. I didn’t expect the samples to be nearly as big as they were so I was very happy. Also, I had looked over the other lifestyle items this month and while they were cool too, I liked the one we received best.
The April 2014 Birchbox Man theme was Spring Fever. It was all about making plans and also being prepared to drop those plans at a moments notice in case something else arises! Here is what the box included:
~Topo Designs Dopp Kit ($25): Listen, if B doesn’t want this, I do. I love it. You can store your travel sized products in it at all times so you are just ready to grab it and go without a second thought. Navy and orange are the colors of the Detroit Tigers, so this bag is perfect for us!
~Hanz de Fuko Claymation (~$2): This is a “subtle” styler that pairs the power of wax with the soft, versatile finish of clay. I think I am going to try and steal this one away for L, who likes his hair spiky. And now that the weather is going to warm up (or so they say) and he won’t have to wear hats anymore, he’ll be needing his own product.
~English Laundry 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash (~$5): I cannot tell how much product is in this, so I just guessed. This smells amazing and I see a full size of this in our future.
~Atelier Cologne Cédrat Enivrant Cologne Absolue (~$2): I am not totally sure how I feel about this scent. I don’t love it enough to purchase it, but it does smell good. It’s a citrus cologne with fruity notes of lime, vetiver and Calabrian bergamot.
~Davines Naturaltech Energizing Shampoo ($10): This smells kind of medicinal and is described as “high-octane”. It’s suppose to boost circulation to strengthen fragile hair. Let me just tell you that B’s hair needs no boost and grows so fast! He’ll have the best hair on the block with this.
All totaled I came up with a value of $44 for the April 2014 Birchbox Man box. This doesn’t include the including points for doing reviews and purchasing the box itself (**) – which would bring the value up to $51! Birchbox Man is $20/month and while we probably wouldn’t have purchased the dopp kit (which was the big ticket item this month) on it’s own, I love that was in here.
