March 2014 Barkbox

Yesterday was a crazy subscription box day around here! We had a substitute mailman and I think he thought I was crazy with my mail bin full of packages. One of those boxes that arrived was the March 2014 BarkBox which the furries were quite pleased about.

If you aren’t familiar, BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs! Each monthly box contains a combination of 4-6 treats, toys, and hygiene products that have been hand selected and approved by Scout, head product tester for BarkBox. We’ve been getting for nearly two years and are quite happy with it.

Barkbox ships via DHL Global Mail and my box took only four days to arrive this month. In comparison, last month it took eight days. You just never know with DHL!

I am usually pretty bad about guessing themes, but I knew this one right away! And I thought it looked great!

The Information Card

The March 2014 BarkBox was inspired by a good old-fashioned breakfast.    Here are the items that were included to get your dogs day off on the right foot:

~Aussie Naturals Fried Egg (~$8): LOL.  How cute is this?  It’s a squeaky leather fried egg!  Who thinks of this stuff?  I think it’s adorable, but I don’t think the dogs know it’s for them yet.  I think they think it’s for the kids.

~Aussie Naturals Bacon (~$8): And to go with your eggs, you need bacon of course!  The dogs do get that this one is for them.  Maybe because it’s more bone shaped?  Not too sure?

~Wagatha’s Breakfast Biscuits ($7.96): These are made with human grade ingredients including apples, bananas and cinnamon and the information card says that the folks over at Wagatha’s actually eat them with their coffee.  For real?  Have you ever tried a dog treat?  Is it weird that I want too?

~Hare of the Dog Rabbit Recipe Treats ($6.90):  These are made from rabbit as the primary ingredient so I don’t think I will be snacking on these with my coffee any time soon.  I am probably going to pass these on to my brother’s dogs (including his foster dog he’s got 4 over there right now) because my dogs aren’t huge hard treat eaters (they like the little soft ones better).

~Barkworthies Junior Bully Stick ($2.50): We get one of these in every Barkbox it seems and the dogs like them just fine.  Nothing exciting, but the dogs will like it.

All totaled I came up with a value of $33.36 for March 2014 BarkBox.  I am quite happy with this month’s BarkBox and think that they hit the theme out of the park!  Everything was so cute and, with the exception of the bully stick, was brand new to us.

Awesome thank you! That is an amazing deal!

I’m not supposed to be buying stuff! No buy March and all… but 48 % off and it’s for the fur kids, so I guess I’ll have to make an exception. The bacon and eggs is adorable.

Your hand was forced. You had too!

We just got our BarkBox in the other day! We subscribe to the Large Dog box and we got this crazy egg toy with an obnoxiously loud squeaker, a newspaper plush toy that literally sounds like crumbling newspaper whenever Gumbo (our dog) plays with it. We got the same dog biscuits that you got, some “Lamb Waffles” which are like dried up lamb jerky, and a huge duck jerky stick. All-in-all, I had so much fun with this box! Like you said, they nailed the theme and everything was perfect!

      Lamb Waffles! How cute!!

Again this month I have different items in my small Barkbox – weird.

    1. Jennifer

That is so weird! What did you get? Is your dog a heavy chewer?

    2. C

Are you Canadian? I have also gotten different things in my barkbox this month and last month. It seems like they just throw in whatever for Canadians? Is this true?

  7. Shannon

My card said it was breakfast themed, but the contents were not:
    1. Hare of the Dog treats (same as you) which my dog went crazy for!
    2. Etta Says! Crunchy Rabbit Chew (this is a repeat from a recent box but she loves them. I never get bully sticks like you do)
    3. Katie’s Bumpers The Original Firehouse Hose squeaker tug toy (Bela is not a tug and play kind of dog so I haven’t tried this toy out on her yet. She loves to fetch)
    4. Healthy Dogma Pumpkin Ginger flavor barker small treats (about half inch bone shaped crunch treats that look like they cup in an ice-cream cup with plastic dome lid)
    5. Twistix yogurt banana flavor sticks for oral hygiene 5.5oz bag (she loves these and I love these. I would consider buying these in the store if I saw them. It takes her awhile to get through these so I like them even more)

She is not a heavy chewer. She loves crunchy and soft treats. She loves fleece toys and then “pacifies” on them like she is nursing.

    1. Jennifer

The only thing I could think that would make them different would be if you had a heavy chewer. But that is interesting! I wonder why??? I ALWAYS get a bully stick. Every single box.

    2. Lesley

I think the boxes vary based on the size of the dog.
