I finally remembered to take a picture of my Plated delivery from last week so that I could do a review on it.  I was all excited about Plated being on Shark Tank, so I knew I wouldn’t forget.

Plated is a weekly meal subscription delivery service.  They send you all the ingredients you need to prepare meals of your choosing (I believe that the menu has 7 or 8 weekly options).   You can opt for their Membership option which is less expensive, but auto-subscribes you, or you can just opt to pay as you go.

The Box

Plated ships via FedEx and now delivers twice a week to my area (most areas I believe).  I can select to receive a box on Tuesday or Friday.  The menus are generally the same, but I have been opting for Friday deliveries because it works better with our schedule.  They also allow you to select your menu up to 3 weeks in advance now which is amazing.  It used to only be for one week, but this allows me to schedule it in advance and then not have to worry about anything selling out before I get to it.

First Look

The only problem with scheduling so far in advance is that I sometimes forget what is coming.  And B never knows.  He just sees the recipes in the kitchen and makes it!  As usual, everything arrived chilled and in perfect condition.  On rare occasions we have been missing something in the box (like say an onion), but it’s not frequent and we always seem to have whatever it is that we are missing, so I have never bothered to e-mail.

Here were our selections from last week:

~Spring Veggie Burgers with Carrot Chips and Lemon Aioli: B saw the recipe card for these and was like really?  What?  I thought they sounded interesting.  And they were.  They didn’t hold together like a meat burger, but they were good and I would have them again.  For real.  The carrot chips were also very good and I would for sure have those again!

~Italian Roasted Steak with Grilled Treviso Salad: I went for this one because the steak looked good and because I had no idea what treviso was.  I later googled it and it’s “a longer, thinner, looser version of tight-headed radicchio”, which didn’t help me much.  I can tell you that this steak was amazing, but I will never be having treviso again.  It’s SO bitter which is super unexpected if you’ve never had it before. We will for sure have this steak again.  For sure.  But with a different side!

Have you gotten Plated recently?  What meals did you pick anyhow was it?  If you are interested in giving it a try or want to learn more, click here to try two free plates (new customers only).  Basically you’ll get 4 plates for the price of 2 ($30)!!  That’s 4 meals/plates for $30, which is less than $8/plate.  And like I said, you can now see the menu a few weeks in advance, so if you aren’t loving this weeks options, you can look ahead and see if any of those are more to your liking!
