March 2014 Her Fashion Box

Oh my goodness, my March 2014 (yes, March) Her Fashion Box finally arrived today!!! It’s the last of my March boxes to arrive (although I think I still have one or two more to review), but it is finally here!

If you aren’t familiar, Her Fashion Box (which is based in Australia) sends you one on-trend fashion accessory tailored to your style profile (you can select from Classic, Feminine or Trendy – which I selected), as well as a number of carefully selected beauty products. In addition, boxes will include products, samples or offers from premium lifestyle brands that could include things such as gorgeous stationery, luxury candles, beauty or spa services, hair and make-up tools, gourmet food or wine tasters, cute home wares, online products, entertainment and more.

The Package

Her Fashion Box ships from Australia and is supposed to ship during the beginning of the month, however, just like last month the March box was delayed.  They sent out a few e-mails indicating that it would be delayed, but I am hoping that this won’t be come a trend with them.  I think once it did ship it took about 10 days or so to arrive.

Unpacked

Included in the plastic envelope was the magazine, a scarf and the actual Her Fashion Box. I am assuming the goal would be have everything fit in the box itself, but I don’t mind the overflow one bit.

For whatever reason, the actual March Her Fashion Box was packed inside another box.  Perhaps just to make it extra secure in shipping?  Not totally sure.

First Look

I had seen a picture or two or the March Her Fashion Box, but I didn’t know exactly what everything was.  The first look was a bit of a mixed bag.  I liked the looks of a few things and was kind of meh on a few more.  Sadly, Her Fashion Box doesn’t include an information card, but I did my best on the details of it.  Here is what was included:

~Fast Tan Le Tan in Le Can: Well I do the name of this!  Ha!  I need a tan like you wouldn’t believe, but I also totally need to exfoliate before I use this.  And I need to make sure I do it on a day that I don’t have anywhere to be, just in case it goes poorly ;).

~Her Fashion Box Party Mix: It’s Her Fashion Box’s first birthday, so they included some fun candy and gummies so everyone could celebrate!

~Designer Brand Outrageous Brand Mascara:One of the main reasons I subscribe to this box is so that I can get foreign brands not available here in the US.  They may not always be super amazing, but they are always so so so fun to have and test out.

~Pumice Stone: I am not overly excited by the punic stone, but it is always needed. Flip flop weather is here (well in Michigan 60 is considered flip flop weather) and I need to prepare.

~Argania Hair Oil: I totally love argan oil for my hair and am always looking for new brands to try.  I am going to save this one for traveling so I am not lugging a giant bottle around.

~Coral Colour Lipstick: Totally a SIL item!  Lipstick and me don’t go together, but she loves it all.   I just can’t get used to seeing myself with lipstick on.  Not sure why? It’s like a stranger is looking at me in the mirror.

~Her Fashion Box Ring: I don’t love this ring, but I also don’t hate it.  I just don’t know what I will do with it.  I need a little girl so I can make up a little jewelry box with all the costume type pieces I receive!  Hey, that could be a fun birthday gift idea……

~Her Fashion Box Necklace: Meh.  This just isn’t me, but I could see a little girl loving it for dress up!

~Her Fashion Scarf: Totally love!  My scarf collection is pretty amazing thanks to all these subscription boxes I receive!  This one is space themed, which sounds a bit odd, but it works.  The colors are even better in person and this is awesome.

~Her Fashion Magazine: I love receiving this because I love checking out the styles and trends in other places. I think that scarf on the cover is the scarf I received, but in a different color?  If you received this box, let me know if you got a different color scarf!

Because a lot of the items were exclusives to Her Fashion Box, I couldn’t do a cost breakdown on this one.  The box works out to be about $36USD (shipping is free) and since I loved the scarf, mascara, self-tanner and argan oil I will consider it a win.

I’ll buy the necklace from you? 🙂

I can’t believe we are just now getting our March boxes. This company is horrible. I ordered both the fitness and the fashion subs in February and to date I have received only the feb fitness and the March fashion box. The feb fashion box never reached me and customer service doesn’t really care. Both boxes I’ve received contained absolute junk. Such poor quality. What a waste of a ton of money. It was a pain to cancel the sub, but I think I’ve finally extricated myself. The previous boxes, before they started shipping internationally, seemed great. The quality now is atrocious. When you say the jewelry should go to a little girl you weren’t kidding. The ring is like a cheap ring from a 25cent vending machine. I’m surprised you liked the scarf, considering the high quality scarves we receive in other boxes this scarf feels to me like something from the dollar section at Walmart.

For anyone who is thinking of subscribing, I really recommend you save yourself the hassle.

I do like the scarf. It’d be better if it were softer, but I am thinking I can soften it up in the wash. I didn’t look, but I can’t imagine it’s dry clean only?? I wish they didn’t include jewelry. More Aussie brand beauty stuff. Less jewelry!

The sad thing is the jewelry from the early boxes looked really nice. There was a turquoise ring I would have loved to have received. I agree that some of the Australian beauty product are great.

    1. Jennifer

Agree! I don’t know if they grew too fast when they went international or shipping costs are too insane or what?

  4. Melissa

I almost signed up for this box a few months back and I am soooo glad I didn’t.

    1. Jennifer

I am giving it three months!

I can’t believe they offer free shipping to the US! I lived in Australia and shipping is insanely expensive (as one would expect for being so far away). I wonder how they’re able to make a profit?

    1. Jennifer

I have no idea. I think the US and Australian boxes are a little different though. At least that’s what I can tell from Instagram.

  6. Kara

Ahhhhhh, so that’s probably why the Aussie one looks so great and the US one doesn’t match up. They must be making up for shipping costs.
Too bad, as they’re are interested Aussie products to explore.

So disappointed with her fashion box:(. It is now almost the middle of May and I have been charged in April and in May. I never received April just got an email that there is another delay. If they can’t get a box out they shouldn’t be charging you for the next box. They would only refund me for one box. So sad was really looking forward to thus box

    1. Jennifer

Ugh. I got that e-mail about the April box yesterday and how it still hasn’t shipped. I canceled too. I gave them three months, but the shipping seems to be getting worse!
