Loot Crate (who kindly sent me this box to review) is a monthly subscription box full of hand-picked, awesome geek and gamer products. Each month, for less than $20, you’ll receive 6-8 products which are guaranteed to have a value of $30 or more.

The Box

Loot Crate ships via USPS Priority Mail and generally takes two days to arrive to me.  L loves getting out crates and always helps me with the unboxings!

First Look

The first look had me quite excited!  I wondered where my information booklet was, but it turns out that Loot Crate is now doing a digital version of their magazine (a “digital zine”)!  Future months will have both a physical copy and the digital zine.  They send a link to the Zine with the warning not to look at it until you have received your crate!  I waited, but that’s probably because I didn’t see the e-mail until after it came anyway ;).

The May 2014 Loot Crate theme was “Adventure” and celebrates heroes, companions, exploration and the revered franchises that evoke the spirit of Adventure.  Here is what was included:

~Zelda Legend Link T-Shirt ($19.99): I may not a huge Zelda fan, but I am a huge fan of the design of this t-shirt.  If you look closely, the image is actually words which describe the character. They also offer other characters and I may have to browse around and see what I can find for L.

~The Friend Zone Soundtrack (~$10): I know nothing about The FriendZone, other than it’s a YouTube show.  I will probably end up trading this to someone who watches the show.

~Adventure Time Tin (Lumpy Space Princess) ($6.67): L denies every seeing this show, but I am pretty sure he has?  I know I have.  And B has too!  This time and the little guy are super cute and I’ll put it up in the playroom.

~Minecraft Hanger (Zombie Pig) ($6): Ahh, yes, Minecraft.  B and L are pretty much addicted.  They play on laptops now instead of iPads because “it’s better”. I still don’t get the craze, but they are obsessed!

~Dangerous To Go Alone Opener and Pin: These are both Loot Crate exclusives.  The pins come every month and can collect / display them.  The bottle opener is there to get you through a dangerous situation when you are in a situation with nothing to open your bottle with.

~Stickers / Tattoos: Also included in the crate is a curator sticker set (from your friends at Polaris and Maker), a few tattoos from YouTube sensation Markiplier and Captain Sparklez stickers!

I couldn’t do a full cost breakdown on this month’s Loot Crate because I didn’t have prices for everything, but since the t-shirt costs more than the entire cost of the crate ($19.37 including shipping), you can be certain you got your money’s worth!
