Yay!! My Summer 2014 Yuzen Box is here. I got a few packages today, but Yuzen is the first one I went to first.
If you aren’t familiar, Yuzen is a quarterly subscription box that sends you a little Zen for every season. Each box includes high-quality natural and organic personal care products, healthy snacks, and lifestyle items carefully chosen from about 6 companies. Yuzen was previously a monthly subscription box, but switched to quarterly last year, which I like even better.
Yuzen ships via USPS Priority Mail. Boxes are sent in February (Spring), May (Summer), August (Fall) and November (Winter).
Inside the outer box is the actual Yuzen box. I have never received a late package from Yuzen nor have I heard of them having any shipping issues or that sort of thing.
This is possibly my favorite packaging / paper design from them yet. The word Yuzen is actually a “Colorful hand-dyeing technique where each pattern is drawn by hand, creating often one of a kind, or very limited production pieces.”
Every Yuzen comes in an organza bag inside the actual Yuzen box. I hadn’t seen any spoilers for this month yet, so I was super excited to dig through everything.
The Summer 2014 Yuzen box includes items that will bring you joy, discover and a celebration of the senses. Here is what was included:
~Aromaflage Botanical Fragrance & Insect Repellant (~$5): This is a combination perfume / insect repellent. It’s not the best smelling perfume ever, but it certainly is the best smelling bug spray ever! I may actually pick up a larger bottle of this for summer events.
~Hugo Naturals Handcrafted Vanilla & Sweet Orange Soap ($3.99): This smells amazing and is made from all-natural essential oils and botanical extracts. Now that I am okay with using bar soap, I am thrilled with this!
~Kerstin Florian Lavender Body Spray ($12): At first I thought this was just a scented body spray, but it’s actually a moisturizer too. It helps to relieve dry and parched skin and while it’s not my favorite scent, my hands did feel amazing after I put it on.
~Kneipp Balancing Lavender Herbal Bath ($5.50): Now this is a B item. I opened it up and smelled it and it made me feel like I was at the spa. I don’t personally want to smell like lavender, but I like when other things smell like it (like B).
~MyChelle Dermaceuticals Ultimate Lash and Brow Serum ($62.50): Oh my! I was not expecting this to be $62.50! It’s suppose to thicken and lengthen lashes and brows and I am all over thickening my lashes! I will start this tonight and report back!
~Sencha Naturals Pink Dragonfruit Mints ($2.95): I like these mints, but I LOVE this packaging! It did take me a minute to figure out how to open it though. And then when I finally did get it open, I spilled it. I somehow missed the instructions on how to open it. LOL!
~Shamanuti Seaweed Toner ($7): Seaweed toner! Interesting. It says it will adjust pH and refine the pores. I would love to find something that works to reduce the size of my pores and maybe seaweed is what I need? We’ll see.
All totaled I came up with a value of $98.94 for the Summer 2014 Yuzen Box! Boxes are $33/quarter and, yep, I loved this box. It seemed to have less products than normal (did anyone else think this?), however, I am really excited about the one high value item, so I don’t mind!
