June Global Delights

Global Delights, who kindly sent me this box to review, is an international food subscription box. Each month you will receive at least seven international food items from a wide variety of food types from a multitude of countries. Foods will range from cookies and candies to soups and entrees.

The Box

Global Delights ships via USPS Priority Mail and took the standard two days to arrive.

First Look

I love trying international foods so I was really excited about this one.  I may not always love everything, but I love testing out new things.

The Information Card

The June 2014 Global Delights information card included product names along with the country of origin for each of them.  Here was what was included:

~Taiwan: Japanese Style Mochi: I don’t even know how to describe these. They are…different.  Not horrible.  But different.    The texture is squishy which I really wasn’t expecting.  Other than brown sugar I have no idea what they tasted like.

Taiwan: Japanese Style Mochi

~Columbia: Plantain Chips: L and I liked these.  B wasn’t a huge fan.  I’d more buy of these if I saw them at the store.

Columbia: Plantain Chips

~Ireland: Bourbon Creams: These were a big hit.  L and I loved them and B liked them.  B said he thought Keebler sandwich cookies were better, but that these were still good.  Chocolate filling in a cookie is always a good thing.

Ireland: Bourbon Creams

~Greece: Sesame Snack: I have had these a few times and don’t really think too much of them either way.  They are just kind of there.  If I saw them at the store I wouldn’t buy them, but if I were really hungry I’d eat them.

Greece: Sesame Snack

~India: Biscuits:  These are cookie like and pretty good. I am guessing dipped in milk they’d be even better.

India: Biscuits

~England: Glacier Mints: These I haven’t tried yet.  They look a bit on the string side so I didn’t want them to sway any of my other tastes.  And then at the end I forgot all about them.  Oops!

England: Glacier Mints

~Netherlands: Honeycake: B loved this cake.  L not so much (I think he was expecting it to be like actual birthday cake to something) and I thought it was good.  We should have tried it warmed and with butter though.  I bet that would have been even better!

Netherlands: Honeycake

~Peru: Soursop Ice Cream Mix: We haven’t made this yet.  I thought it would be a fun summer rainy day activity for the kids and I to work on.

Peru: Soursop Ice Cream Mix

~France: Violet Mints: Love the packaging on these! I am throwing them in my purse so I always have some on hand.

France: Violet Mints

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the Global Delights box since a lot of the items were hard to find (and had shipping costs), but at $36/month that broke down to $4/item for each of the nine items in this month’s box.  Since I am not familiar with the costs of some of these I can’t say for sure if that’s a deal or not, but I will say we had a fun time sampling everything.  I couldn’t believe that L was even into trying everything!
