The Austin BatBox, who kindly sent me this to review, is a monthly subscription service dedicated to promoting local Austin businesses to a broad audience. Each month subscribers will receive 4-5 hand selected, high quality merchandise crafted right in Austin.

The Box

Austin BatBox ships via USPS Priority Mail and arrived to me very quickly.  It was one of the boxes that arrived while I was on vacation as a matter of fact.  I am still plowing through them all!

First Look

So far so good!  Everything looked neatly packaged and was wrapped in an Austin Texas newspaper which I thought was a great touch!

The July 2014 Austin BatBox didn’t include an information card (I did receive a little letter with some general information about the box and the brands featured this month), but the following items were included:

~Stubbs Original BBQ Sauce ($6): Well Stubbs looks like a place I would so want to visit if I were ever in Austin!  Seriously it looks so cool.  And I bet they make killer BBQ.  Hopefully B can do this sauce at least a little justice here at home.

~Freebleeder Disco Death Dance ($6): Not really my kind of music, but B enjoyed it!  He’s got a bunch of CD’s that I have gotten in the past few weeks in boxes and has been listening to them in the car.  I was amazed he had a 6-disc CD changer in his car.  I may even have one in mine for all I know.  I was like wait, you can put in more than one disc at a time?  How does THAT work?  HA!

~zhi Organic Loose Leaf Tea (Berry Hibiscus) ($3.95): I have to admit, this tea does look cool with all the different colors in it!  I am sure my cousin will love it!

~Austin Natural Soap Texas Mountain Laurel ($5.95): This soap smells great!  It’s made in small batches and Austin Natural Soap guarantees that you will love it and will refund your money if you aren’t 100% satisfied!

~EXIT83 I Love You So Much Coaster: I can’t find this one online, but it is very cute and I will certainly use it in my office (which is basically the only place I ever use coasters).

~The Swag Bag: Each box also includes a mini “swag bag” of stickers and other goodies.  It reminds me of the stuff you’d get if you went to an outdoor festival and I thought it fit box perfectly!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box because I couldn’t find all the pieces online.  Also, I believe I was missing the Gemagery Jewelry Earrings that are noted on the letter I got with the box.  You can check them out here if you want to see them (and you should because they are very cool).  I am 110% certain that the folks over at Austin BatBox would have happily resent the earrings (like I am beyond sure), but I didn’t want to hold up my review of the box!

What do you think of Austin BatBox?  If you are interested in signing up or just want to learn more, click here.  And if you could pick any city, what other city would you want to see a subscription box of?

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
