August 2014 Mission Cute

MissionCute, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box full of cute stuff, but with a mission. Each MissionCute box comes with at least 2 items made by small-but-mighty artisans and local businesses and each month they partner with a different nonprofit to help promote their mission.  50% of the net proceeds of each box are donated to the chosen monthly nonprofit (this month is EKUBO Ministries) and MissionCute also sponsors and works on a service project each month in their community.

MissionCute ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive to me.  Mission Cute boxes ship on the 15th of the month. If you subscribe before the 10th of the month you will receive that month’s box.  If you subscribe after the 10th of the month, your subscription will start the following month.

First Look

I couldn’t tell anything at all from the first look.  As usual though everything was neatly packaged and looked very cute!

The Information Card

As I mentioned before, the August 2014 MissionCute partner is “EKUBO Ministries” and 50% this month’s proceeds will be donated to them.  EKUBO Ministries’ goal is to serve the vulnerable children and developing strong and sustainable communities in Uganda. Here is what was included:

~CapaBunga Wine Cap ($4.50):  Ohh, this is great! It’s a cap for your wine bottle.  I do sometimes destroy or lose the cork and I don’t always love wine stoppers because they are always SO tall and don’t fit in my fridge.  This is just a small cap and solves both of those problems.

~Ekubo Ministries Bracelet ($7): I love this bracelet.  I love it! It’s handmade out of discarded paper which is then rolled into beads.  It’s just so pretty and the colors are gorgeous. I cannot even believe this is only $7.  Incredible.

~Sparrow Bird Key House ($6): I actually have received one of these in a box a while back and I am not totally sure what happened to that guy?  WB saw this one though and wants it to be his “birdie” so I will get him some keys to hang up on it!

~Proper Milled Soap ($2.40): B actually received this in a Birchbox a while back and it smells amazing!  I am planning to steal this one for myself.  I didn’t realize it before, but Proper Soap is paired with iDE to improve access to clean water for those around the world.

~Headband ($12): I don’t know that I am stylish enough to wear this out of the house, but this headband is awesome to wear around the house.  It’s nice and stretchy so it doesn’t give me a headache, but at the same time it’s thick enough to keep my hair pulled back and out of my face.

All totaled I came up with a value of $31.90 for the August 2014 MissionCute box!  It should be more though because that bracelet (at least in my opinion) should be way more than $7!  I need to know exactly how this is made and how long it takes.  I am fascinated that it’s just paper, but is so gorgeous!  Ahh, I love it!

Disclosure: This complimentary box was sent for review purposes. As always, all opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
