American Mystery Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box filled with Made in America products. Each month you will receive 5-6 quality items Made in USA that have a warranty or lifetime guarantee. The box will include specialties to taste from different cities and products that are useful for your home or the great outdoors. You can opt for an Original Box, a Kid’s Box (for ages 5+), a Family Box (which is a mixture of the Original Box and the Kid’s Box) or an Original + Doggie Box.

The Box

American Mystery Box ships between the 15th and 18th of the month and generally takes 2-5 days to arrive depending on your location.  If you order before the 14th of the month you will receive that month’s box.  If you order after the 14th of the month, your subscription will begin the following month.

First Look

I wasn’t quite sure what would be included in the box, but I was pleased by the first look and thought I knew right the theme was already!

The Information Card

The November 2014 American Mystery Box theme was “Cookiepalooza” (my guess was baking) and included the following items:

~Hot Cakes Smoked Chocolate Chips ($15): $15 chocolate chips?  Well, you know I had to try these right away!  And let me tell you, they really do taste like smoked chocolate chips!  They are slowly smoked over alder wood for 10 hours and are turned every 30 minutes.  I am going to try these in chocolate chip cookies which will be a nice kick of flavor.

~Ann Clarke Ltd. Snowflake Cookie Cutter ($3.99): Ann Clarke Ltd. is actually the largest manufacturer of cookie cutters in the USA.  It’s very sturdy and I love that it has a little handle on the top.  That makes it way easier for little hands to use.

~Nordic Ware Quarter Baking Sheet ($14.61): I don’t exactly know what a quarter baking sheet is specifically used for, but there have been a ton of times I have wished I had a “smaller” cookie sheet and here it is!

~Confection Crafts Plant Dyed Sugar ($5.95): This is made in Portland, Oregon from cane sugar and are naturally colored using betters, cabbage, annatto, turmeric, carrot and spinach. How cool is that?  I can’t wait to make Christmas cookies with this!

~Regency Natural Parchment Paper ($4.95): Like the information card says, parchment paper is a game changer when you are baking.  Nothing sticks and it just makes baking easier.  This is made in Dallas, TX and is 100% plant based.

~Mystery Package: Jewelry Tattoos ($1.50): Every box comes with a Mystery Item which I think is super fun.  It has nothing to do with cookies and you can open it right away or whenever you need a special surprise.

All totaled I came up with a value of $46 for the November 2014 American Mystery Box.  I really liked this box and thought the curation was great, but I do wish that the value had been a bit higher.  Still, I think this would make a very fun gift for someone who appreciates Make in America items and it’s a great way to find out about products you may never have known about!
