November 2014 bluum

My November 2014 bluum was yet another of the boxes to arrive this week. If my mailman didn’t think I was crazy before, he certainly does now.  It’s been a wild week!

If you aren’t familiar, bluum (who acquired Stork Stack earlier this year), is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies.  Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.

The Box

bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post.  It starts out with FedEx and then ends up being delivered by the Post Office.

First Look

You never know what you will get with bluum, so opening the box is always a complete surprise.  If you get a box for this same age group next month it may be totally different.  Actually, there is a possibility that if you get this same age group for this month it might be different.  You just never know.

The Card

The card included in the bluum box doesn’t include product information. Rather, that information is sent to you in a e-mail on the day that you receive your box.  WB’s November bluum box was for a 35 month-old (*) and included the following items:

~Crocodile Creek – Rabbit (Max) ($4.99): Max is an adorable bunny who also happens to be on super clearance right now at Crocodile Creek (the reg. price is $19.99).  WB already has two stuffed dogs that he MUST sleep with every night (L actually has two stuffed dogs as well), so this guy will probably just hang out on a shelf or in the basement.

~First time – School ($5.99): WB will be headed to preschool next fall and while he gets that L goes to school and has visited his classroom, I’m not sure he gets what you do at school all day.  This will give us a little head start to hopefully ease into it!

First time – School

~Look At Me, I’m A Robot ($4.49): This is such a cute book.  I think L likes it better than WB does.  You can hold the book up to your face and see what you look like with all the different robot faces.

~Wonderful Wildlife 1,2,3 ($6.29): WB liked this book, but it’s not my favorite to read.  He liked pointing out the animals and counting though, so as long as he likes it, I am happy to read it.

Wonderful Wildlife 1,2,3

~Manhattan Toy Miniwinks Hare ($3.95): The tag says that this is a Hare, but I gotta tell you, I don’t see it.  At all.  My guess was a baby raccoon.  This is really small (it would fit in the palm of my hand) and might end up getting stolen by the dogs.

All totaled I came up with a value of $25.71 for the November 2014 bluum box.  Not too amazing considering that the box is $29/month.  Had the big rabbit not been on clearance it would have been more “valuable”, but I always include current prices, not original retail prices.  Either way I wasn’t overly impressed by this one.  I like the books (who doesn’t like books), but nothing really wowed me.  It was all just kind of standard stuff.

Did you get bluum this month?  What was in it and what’d you think?   If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.  And if you are a new customer, you can use the code “SAVEMEHALF” to save half off your first box, making it only $14.50.

(*) It’s a long story, but we used to get bluum ages ago when they just did those smaller sample sized boxes for 0-12 month olds. When WB was about 9 months, bluum launched their current box for ages 1+ and was still doing the sample boxes for babies 0-12 months old. I wanted to check out the new, bigger boxes for WB, so I aged him up a few months so he was 1. And he’s still aged up!
