My November 2014 NewBeauty TestTube was another one of the subscription boxes I received this week.
If you aren’t familiar, TestTube is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind sampling program that enables members the opportunity to try a variety of the latest breakthrough beauty products before investing in them, and then share their feedback about the products. Six times a year, for just $29.95 (plus shipping and handling), subscribers receive a TestTube filled with deluxe and full-size products from the hottest beauty brands. Members will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly. I should note that this is different than QVC New Beauty Test Tube, which is a quarterly subscription.
NewBeauty TestTube ships via FedEx Smart Post and took just about a week to arrive.
I was happy to see that the tube was back this month! The September TestTube shipped in a box because of the size of the items.
NewBeauty TestTube includes a great information book with product information, prices, details on where to buy the products, etc. Here is what was included in the November 2014 shipment:
~Votivo Aromatic Candle (Icy Blue Pine) ($12): I love candles and think this one smells amazing, so I am happy to receive it. However, I hear that they also sent these candles (same scent) in last years Tube. I just started subscribing to this in the Spring, so I didn’t get it in the past. However, due to my love for candles I probably wouldn’t care if I got it twice, but I thought I should point out the repeat item.
~CHI Silk Infusion ($8.50): I believe that this is also a repeat (that’s according to MUT), but I also have yet to receive this. It’s a leave-in product which I love and will leave your hair shiny while it’s protecting it.
~Donell Lip Saver SPF15 ($7): I am going to save this one for L for the wintertime. He gets awful chapped lips (partly because once they get a little chapped he licks them) and this is going to rock!
~Dermalogica Precleanse ($9.50): Although I have tried this in the past (from from this sub though), I am still fascinated with the idea of a precleanse. You want me to wash my face before I was my face? I did like the way it made my skin feel, but I have enough trouble remembering to wash my face as it is! I don’t think a second step is a good idea for me.
~Klorane Make-Up Remover Biodegradable Wipes with Soothing Cornflower ($12.50): Now these are more my speed! They were gentle on my skin and removed (the little) makeup I had on.
~John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation Smoothing Creme ($1.28): I believe that this is also a TestTube repeat. I know I have a tube of it somewhere so I will likely pass this one on to a friend.
~Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner (Ice Blue) ($15): I read that this was a repeat as well, but it’s not something that I have received from them in the past. This is another one I will pass on to a friend because I am not a eyeliner fan.
~Revision Skincare Intellishade Broad-Spectrum SPF 45 (~$10): I received this one back in my May 2014 NewBeauty TestTube. I liked it (it’s a tinted moisturizer) and thought it really did work, but I would have preferred to try a new item.
All totaled I came up with a value of $75.78 for the November 2014 NewBeauty TestTube. The cost (including shipping) is $38.90 so it was double the value, but I just didn’t love it. I think there were too many duplicates and no real “wow” factor. I will probably give them another month (the January one) and then decide if I am going to keep it or move on.
