February 2015 Birchbox Man Subscription Box Review
February 2015 Birchbox Man

Of the four subscription boxes I received yesterday, three of them were for B. It’s rare that the majority of his subscriptions come on the same day, but he was super pleased. One of those boxes (and the one I was probably most excited about) was his February 2015 Birchbox Man.

If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.

Birchbox Man ships via Newistics and took just a few days to arrive.

I didn’t opt in for any of the lifestyle choices for B this month.  The choices for February were an Organizer Trio (Quirky Carabandits, Quirky Cordies and a Quirky Wrapster), an Explorer’s Kit (Rite in the Rain – Field Flex All-Weather Memo Book and This Is Ground Cord Tacos) or a Quick-Connect Duo (Quirky Contort and Quirky Power Plug). None of them really jumped out at me and also, the website told me I had already made my sample choice when I went to make a pick, so I took it as a sign to take our chances this month.

Once I opened this box up I knew that not picking an item was best for us this month!

The Information Card

The  February 2015 Birchbox Man theme was “Optimize” and included the following items to help you make the most of the shortest month of the year:

~English Laundry Royal Aqua ($1.52): This smells great!  It described as a “fresh-air fragrance” and I would totally agree with that.  It’s not too heavy or too strong. I had to actually lean into B to smell it which was nice.

~Billy Jealousy Hydroplane Super Slick Shave Cream ($2.50): We have gotten a few items from Billy Jealousy in the past and B’s a big fan. I didn’t think this had much of a scent to it, but that’s okay.

~(Malin + Goetz) Grapefruit Face Cleanser ($3.75): We both love all things Malin + Goetz and I am keeping my fingers crossed I eventually get some in my Birchbox!  They have an amazing line and this will be what B uses up first from this box.

~Happy Socks Men’s Socks ($24): B’s lifestyle item turned out to be socks this month!  And these will optimize my month more than his because wild socks make sorting / putting away socks 100x easier.  These are so sure the wildest pairs of socks B now owns, but he’ll have no problem wearing them to work.

All totaled I came up with a value of $31.77 for B’s February 2015 Birchbox Man.  Including the points we get for purchasing the box, reviewing the items and sharing on Facebook, the value jumps to $38.77!  I love the lifestyle item we received and think it made the box a win for us. I doubt we would have been as happy with any items that were lifestyle sample choices, so taking a chance was worth it.

SO is getting a similar box. He was not excited about the box. I think he is worried about what the guys would say. Wait until he sees there are two pair. He is also getting malin and goetz shampoo, proper soap, and and the royal aqua cologne.

I wish this is the optimized box I got. I recevied some lame USB adapter and wall socket thing. I am going to give them one more month. I’ve only been really satisfied with one of my boxes.

Did you make a sample choice or did you opt out of it? I think we lucked into this by not picking!

By the time I got around to choosing everything was out so I think I received a mystery box

Do you know how you get to choose the lifestyle choice for the men’s box? I got my Dad a 3 month subscription, but he’s never gotten to choose.

I might be wrong but you won’t get a choice with your first box. But going forward, they send out monthly e-mails. It should go to the e-mail address the account is registered to.

We’re canceling. My husband is not into really flamboyant socks and this is the 7th pair they’ve sent in a short amount of time. So disappointed. 🙁
