Loot Crate March 2015 Subscription Box

Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box full of hand-picked, awesome geek and gamer products. Each month, for less than $20, you’ll receive 6-8 products which are guaranteed to have a value of $30 or more.

The Box

Loot Crate now ships via FedEx Smart Post.  Smart Post is slower than USPS which is what they previously used, however, they are now shipping boxes earlier so subscribers will be receiving them around the same time each month.  So pretty much, there’s no difference to subscribers.

First Look

If I had to guess I would say that Loot Crate sends t-shirts in about 40% of the boxes they ship.  As you can see in the first look, the March box had one.

The Information Book

The March 2015 Loot Crate theme was Covert and included the following items:

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Bond – This is Stirred T-Shirt: I think this is my favorite Loot Crate shirt they’ve ever sent.  Besides the design being cute, it’s  nicely fitted and very soft.

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Field Agent Blink Time Wrist Watch:  When you tap on this the time displays.  Otherwise it’s just a “stealth” watch.  I tapped it so you could see how the time displays and then quickly snapped a picture.

~Spy Mad Libs ($3.99): OMG.  I love Mad Libs.  I didn’t even know they still made these.  I can’t wait to do these with L!

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Replica Agents of Shield Lanyard: I can already see the boys fighting over this!  It’ll mainly hang in L’s superhero themed room, but I know they will both wear it as well.

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Paracord Survival Bracelet: This bracelet is made out of military grade parachute cord and can be unwrapped in an emergency and used for “a multitude of things that possibly save a life or get you out of a crazy situation”.  To tell you the truth (not that you are surprised I’m sure) I am not sure what I would do with it even if I did get it unwrapped in an emergency?  I do think it’s cool though!

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Orphan Black Comic Book: I actually have heard of Orphan Black, but only in mention.  I will likely end up passing this on to a friend who will appreciate it more than I would since I am not super familiar with it.

~Loot Crate Exclusive: Special Agent Dossier Notebook 2-Pack (Field Notes): We’ve gotten items from Field Notes in other subscription boxes and have always been happy with the products.  I suspect B is going to end up using these for National Guard weekends.  I think they will fit nicely in his uniform pockets.

I couldn’t do a cost breakdown on this box since there were so many Loot Crate exclusives.  I thought this was a really cool month though and was quite happy with it all.

I love Orphan Black! I definitely recommend it! After the kids go to bed for sure!

Orphan black a must see show!

  2. Ann Marie

I watched Orphan Black when I heard there was an item in this box. It turned into a binge watching session, lol.

Orphan Black is an amazing show! That one actress on the cover plays around ten different characters and they’re all different. I don’t know how she does it, but she’s amazing! She should win so many awards!

I would recommend NOT passing on the Black Orphan Comic, there is something special that something requires with it. Also examine the box’s design VERY closely there is a certain website URL code that requires the book. *wink

I signed up for Loot Crate on the recommendation of a friend. They described the boxes as full of great loot and plenty of amazing and interesting items. I can say for my first box I was very disappointed and I am contemplating canceling my subscription. The items seemed very cheap and childish. I was looking forward to some cool geek gear, instead I got a box full of dollar store items. I might give it one more month just to see if this was an off month or if this is a regular occurrence. I did hear good things about Nerd block and that their boxes were legitimate.

I need to remember to cancel this box. My older son wanted me to keep it one more month because of the Agents of Shield item. He’s happy with the lanyard and t-shirt. My little guy kept the bracelet. I have no idea what Orphan Black is although I have heard of it. I think it is time to introduce Mad Libs to the little guy!
