Birchbox “The Tig: Guest Editor Box” June 2015 Subscription Box Review

My (first) June 2015 Birchbox is here! If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox, which is $10/month, offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).

The Box

Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.  If my box happens to ship (or arrive) before then I just consider that a bonus!

The Tig: Guest Editor Box

Since I have two accounts I generally opt for that month’s curated box on one account and opt for the standard Birchbox on the other account.  This review is on the June “The Tig: Guest Editor Box” which was curated by actress Meghan Markle, founder of The Tig lifestyle blog.

Birchbox releases the contents of their Guest Editor boxes in advance so you generally know what to expect (except for the sizes of the items of course).  This box (all June Birchbox boxes were actually) was supposed to contain a Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner, however, due to some issues with customs they weren’t able to include these in the box so a substitution was made. Birchbox explained this in the shipping e-mail and indicated that the liners would be included in a future box.

The Information Card

The June 2015 Birchbox The Tig: Guest Editor Box included the following items to help get you ready for summer:

~Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow ($4.05): This BB cream is fantastic!  The coverage is amazing and it blended in so easily.  If you’ve never tried a BB cream I highly recommend giving one a go.  It’s a game changer in the summer.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

~Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel (~$3): I actually selected this as a sample choice item in my May box, but I LOVED it so I wasn’t at all sad to see it in this box.  It evens out skin, brightens, and just makes you look better – fast.  It’s not harsh either (the term peel always scares me a bit) which I was happy about.

~Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream ($0.92): Harvey Prince is one of my favorite subscription box discoveries.  I just love their scents.  And the lotion moisturizes quickly and rubs in nicely.  I am going to use this strictly as a hand cream so it will last longer.

~Oribe Cote d’Azur Fragrance (~$2): I wasn’t too thrilled by this at first, but the scent is surprisingly nice.  It’s citrusy and very summery. Not sure I want a full-size of it, but I like it.

Oribe Cote d’Azur Fragrance

~Davines SŪ Hair & Body Wash ($6.75): This can be used as either a shampoo or a body wash so it’s a good one for the gym bag.  It’s a nice scent – not amazing, but nice – and the size is fantastic. This is another one that I probably won’t be buying a full-size of, but I like the sample.

All totaled my June 2015 Birchbox “The Tig: Guest Editor Box” has a value of $16.72.  Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $23.72.  Certainly not the most “valuable” Birchbox out there, but it wasn’t a total dud either.  And I am probably the one only, but I LOVED the BB Cream in place of the eyeliner!

Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month? What’d you think?  If you are interested in subscribing new customers can use the coupon code “BB50OFF” to save 50% (or $5 off Men’s) off a new Birchbox subscription!
