Doodle Crate October 2015 Subscription Box Review – “Wood-Working” + 50% Off Coupon Code

Doodle Crate is one of the new(er) lines in the Kiwi Crate family. Designed for girls ages 9-16, Doodle Crate includes all the materials and inspiration for DIY projects such as patterned pouches, friendship bracelets, or colorful candles. Crates encourage girls to tackle new challenges and gain creative confidence!

The Box

Doodle Crate ships via FedEx Smart Post and took just about a week to arrive to me.

First Look

I skipped the last few Doodle Crates and used the materials for other projects because I wasn’t feeling the themes.  But I knew this month I would love it!

The Information Booklet

The October 2015 Doodle Crate technique was “Wood-Working” and included all of the materials needed to make your own wooden clock.

The information booklet includes detailed instructions on how to complete the project. They also post videos to YouTube with additional instructions.

The Materials

Unlike Koala Crate and Kiwi Crate, Doodle Crate includes just one main project.  I have never had an issue with missing materials or problems with anything in my crates.

Building

I let WB stack the clock and design the shape of it.  With the exception of the top one, the wooden pieces have two or three holes in them do so you have a variety of options available.  Once you are happy with your stack, you take them apart and glue them together.

Ready to Paint

After glueing it was time to paint!  This was my favorite part of the project.  Although, I wasn’t feeling the paint. I would have needed about 20 coats of the white to cover the wood which seemed crazy. The aqua I used was the same.  I wish it was a little bit thicker.

All Done

We waited for the paint to dry overnight and then put on the clock mechanism (you need to add one AA battery to make it work) and hands.  I don’t know where I will hang it, but all in all I am happy with how it turned out.
