I was so excited to get my hands on my first  Play! by Sephora box and took a million pictures.  Everything was well packaged and the box was so cute.Play! by Sephora March 2016 Subscription Box Review

The March 2016 Play! by Sephora box featured “The Perfection Collection” and included tools to help you master the art of the perfect complexion.  The included booklet features product information along with pro tips for each of the items in the box.  The March 2016 Play! by Sephora box includes the following:

~Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (0.2mL / 0.007fl.oz) ($6.65): I don’t wear eyeliner (I know I mention this everytime I get eyeliner in a subscription box), but if I did, I think I would go for a liner like this.  It’s like a fine marker and it dries in a snap.  I tested it on wrist and then immediately ran my fingers over it to try and smudge it and nothing.  According to the information card this can also be used to create temporary tattoos.

~MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA ‘REPLICA’ Beach Walk (0.04fl.oz) ($2.94): Beach Walk really is a perfect name for this. It has hints of “bergamot, coconut milk and lemon”. It’s not too strong, but it’s enough to make a statement and have people wondering what that fabulous scent is.

~Murad Invisiblur™ Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (0.17fl.oz) ($11.05): This “silky-smooth” sunscreen protects your skin with SPF30 while also multitasking as a moisturizer and primer. I really like how it took away the shine from my face and also seemed to cover some of my skin imperfections.

~SEPHORA COLLECTION The Perfectionist: Airbrush Sponge ($12): To use, wet this sponge (just a tad) and then apply foundation or bronzer in a “patting” motion.  I tend to try and swipe it on, but the booklet is right, it is much better when you pat it.

~Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil (.13oz) ($5.46): This primer oil is to be applied to your skin before you apply makeup. I also received it in my February ipsy bag and I really liked it.  It absorbs quicky and leaves your skin instantly smoother (and camera ready accoridng to the information card).
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil
~fresh Soy Face Cleanser (20mL / 0.6fl.oz) ($5.29): fresh makes some of the most amazing skincare products, but I tend not to buy them because they are expensive.  It instantly made my skin feel clean and soft and it not only cleanses skin, but also removes makeup.

~color iQ: Inside the box was also a small plastic contain (which I didn’t take a picture of) that I later learned was for their color iQ!  It is the first and only beauty service that scans the surface of your skin and assigns it a Color iQ number to reveal scientifically precise lip, foundation and concealer matches.  I can’t wait to see how this all works for myself!

All totaled I came up with a value of $43.39 for the March 2016 Play! by Sephora box.  I am absolutely in love with this and am just as impressed with this box in person as I was from seeing pictures.

There is no price anywhere! How much is it?

    1. Jennifer

I like the Play card because you get 50 points with a purchase. Someone said they had to buy the items included in that month’s box, but I have never had that issue. One time I bought a $5 travel size item and got the 50 points. I get my box tomorrow and looking forward to it.

I have purchased a Sephora mask before for $5 and gotten the points. I am about ready to cancel though. I am rarely actually using anything in this box.

This was my first box too! I just got it yesterday so I haven’t tried everything out yet. I used the face oil/primer this morning, sponge and liner. I love the liner! It was so easy to do my cat eye. I was not impressed with the sponge. I normally use an urban decay brush and I like that better. The coverage was too light with the sponge.

I received the primer before in Ipsy and BB and I have no idea how much to apply…I see/feel no difference and don’t know if it’s because it’s an ‘oil’ but my foundation still cakes in my forehead lines. Smashbox website says you can use it morning/night and see a difference in your skin.

I’m thinking either Botox or buying a high dollar foundation!
