Birchbox September 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Codes

Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July was the last month samples were be able to be reviewed for points.  I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over four years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well-known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.

Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.

September marks six years of Birchbox, and this box reflected the celebration.  So fun.

I always peek at my Birchbox boxes in advance, but opening them and playing with everything inside is just as fun as being “unspoiled.”

My September 2016 Birchbox included the following items:

~Escada Turquoise Summer Eau de Toilette (~$1): This is a “fruity and floral scent made from notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and violet.” I’m obsessed. It’s not a fall scent really, but it’s fantastic.  I gravitate towards fruity scents, and that’s exactly what this is.

~Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit (1fl.oz) ($7.73): Liz Earle is one of my favorite brands that Birchbox has introduced me too!  LOVE them.  The cleanser takes away dirt, oil, makeup – you name it.  You apply the cleanser with your hands and then “polish” it with the cloth (which you run under hot water).  It feels fantastic.

~Macadamia Oil Ultra Rich Moisture Cleansing Conditioner (2fl.oz) ($5.20):  This is a “cleansing conditioner,” which is like a shampoo and conditioner in one.  I liked it, but I didn’t love it.  I have trouble getting it out of my head that I don’t need both a shampoo and conditioner.

~Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara (No Size Listed) (~$6): There wasn’t a size listed, but I estimated that it was about 1/3 of the full-size.  That seems fair.  This mascara didn’t clump, which is good since you need a few coats to get good volume.

~Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek (Perk) (0.1oz) ($2.40): Perk is a coral colored lip and cheek tint.  I love the little hint of shimmer in here. It’s a great buildable color, and I love that you can use it on your cheeks or lips.

All totaled I came up with a value of $22.33 for my September 2016 Birchbox.  That’s not a huge value for Birchbox, but this box was a win for me.  I got to try some new stuff and got an old favorite too!
