I am far from a teen/tween, but I subscribe to Doodle Crate for myself. I find the projects to be (fairly) simple, fun to do and relaxing.
The December 2016 Doodle Crate explored the technique “Hand Lettering” and included the materials necessary to make your own Fortune Telling Machine.
Materials
The box included wooden sections to build the machine, fortune papers, a globe, glue, capsules and a chisel-tip pen. The only item I needed to provide was a pencil. The instructions mention that scissors and scrap paper were also needed, but I didn’t find that to be the case.
Step #1 – Assemble The Machine
The first step was to assemble the machine. This involved gluing the sections together and not much else. The instructions were straightforward, and this step took maybe 5 minutes to complete.
Step #2 – Create Your Fortunes
I had such a fun time testing out different lettering ideas. I didn’t perfect any one technique, but I had a good time playing around with that pen!
Final Product
This turned out great! My boys love playing with it and seeing what their fortunes are. Little do they know that I am going to start sneaking some chores in there too ;). So maybe you’ll get a fortune, or maybe you’ll get to stay up an extra 15 minutes, or maybe you’ll have to dust. You just never know.
