Freedom Japanese Market Review - August 2017
The August 2017 Freedom Japanese Market included the following items:

~Chocolate Umaibo & Umaibo: The Chocolate Umaibo is easily my favorite Umaibo to date.  Instead of a long stick, it’s individual pieces with Nutella-like chocolate filling.  The pumpkin corn pottage (a thick stew) was also good, but it also wasn’t chocolate ;).

~Baby Gang Candy: The information card says that this is Green Apple candy, but I believe mine is strawberry.  It’s a fizzing candy that pops in your mouth.  My boys (they are 5 and 9) thought this was very fun.

~Premium Umaibo: This puffed corn tastes like a mix of mozzarella and camembert cheese.  It’s very tasty and has lots of great cheese flavor.  Because it’s so filling, I think this one would also be best in smaller pieces.

~Cream Rusk: Twice baked biscuits topped with a delicious cream.  This may sound a little strange, but I think they’d be extra amazing with a slice of cheese on them.

~Okashi no Mizu Ame: This is a Japanese DIY Liquid Candy Kit.  Think gummy bear-like, but not quite.  We always have fun making these, but they never seem to work out perfectly.  Or maybe they do, and we just don’t love the candies?

~Neri Ume: Neri Umi are sweet and sour chewy gummies.  Very interesting texture and appearance, but also very yummy.

~Fried Potato:  These are just the right amount of salty. They are thicker than potato sticks I have tried here in the states, which is good because it slowed me down eating them ;).

~Awa Dama: This is a grape-flavored bubble gum.  Nice grape flavor, but I only tried it briefly, so I can’t comment on how long the flavor lasts (I just don’t love gum).

~Do-n Tarou:  I am not sure how to describe udon noodles?  They are wheat noodles, but they have more flavor than that.  I loved them.

~Mini Bottle: The information card says this is strawberry, but I think mine is blue raspberry.  It’s a fizzy candle, and my boys thought it was so fun to pour it straight into their mouths from this bottle!

~Koala’s March: Who doesn’t love these?  Seriously.  The chocolate filled ones are my personal favorite, but the strawberry ones are amazing too.  They have a delicious true-strawberry tasting filling surrounded by a yummy cookie.

~Melon Soda Gum: This month’s box included a bonus melon soda gum.  I think this was a bonus in a previous box as well?  Bonus items are always welcome in boxes!
