Mantry Subscription Box Review - March 2018
Mantry (aka the Modern Man’s Pantry) is a bi-monthly food club that lets you discover the finest American artisan foods – and gives you ideas of what to do with them.  Mantry has recently made some changes and has decreased (yes, decreased) the price of their boxes from $75 to $49.  Boxes will now ship bi-monthly instead of monthly.  Your first shipment will also include a Welcome Pack valued at $55.

Mantry ships via USPS. Your first box will ship within 2-6 business days after order date.  Your first shipment will arrive in a handmade wooden crate which is one of my favorite parts about Mantry.

The March 2018 Mantry theme was “Tequila Sunrise.” In addition to product information, the card also includes recipes and suggestions on how to use the products you’ve received. The March 2018 Mantry included the following items:

~Yes Cocktail Co. No. 5 Hibiscus Rose Cocktail Mixer ($7.50): This cocktail mixer works well with most spirits including Vodka, Gin, Champagne, Tequila, Whiskey/Bourbon.  Mantry includes a recipe for a Hibiscus Margarita on their website which we are planning on making just as soon as we remember to pick up Triple Sec at the store.

~On Tap Kitchen Sriracha Pretzels ($5):  My husband loved these!  The organic chile powder makes them spicy, but the vinegar and garlic balance out the spice nicely.  B liked them alone, but I think they would be even better in tomato soup!

~Elvio’s Chimichurri Chimi Rub ($14.95): This rub adds bold Argentinian flavors to beef, pork, seafood, poultry, vegetables & more.  The Mantry recipe for this rub is for Chimi Rubbed Steak & Eggs.  Hopefully, this ends up on our breakfast (or dinner) table soon!

~Mayana Chocolate Mayan Spiced Bar ($8): My husband will usually declare something “good, slighty” and then that will be the end of that.  But he could not stop talking about this rich dark chocolate ganache bar with sea salt caramel and tortilla crunch.  Just delicious!

~Les Trois Petits Cochons Chorizo ($9.99): This sausage is all-natural, minimally processed and contains no artificial ingredients.   We tried this in the suggested Mantry recipe which you can see below.

~Hatchup Katchup ($8): This ketchup has a vinegary sweet-sour tang and is crafted with flame roasted green chile grown in Hatch, New Mexico.  It doesn’t come out of the bottle smoothly, but it’s delicious.

~Chorizo Smashed Hash With Hatchup: We took Mantry’s suggestion and made their Chorizo Smashed Hash With Hatchup recipe.  It was flavorful, filling and the katchup added a great kick!

All totaled the March 2018 Mantry had a value of just about $46.  slightlyunder the cost of the box, but the curation was amazing and I don’t think we can find a lot of this locally.  Not easily anyway!

What do you think of Mantry?  Do you like the changes they have made?  If you are interested in ordering or want to learn more, you can check them out here.
