Grounded Goods Review – March 2018

Grounded Goods is a monthly subscription box for climate-conscious living. All the products in our boxes are sourced from farmers and producers committed to regenerative farming, which helps to restore soils and ecosystems and slow down climate change.

Grounded Goods ships around the 7th of each month via USPS and usually takes 1-3 days to arrive. The cut-off date for receiving the following month’s box is the last day of the month.

My first impressions of this box? It smelled incredible.

The March 2018 Grounded Goods theme was “Chocolate Lover” and included the following items:

~Cacoco Drinking Chocolate ($13.99): Cacoco Drinking Chocolate is made from ethically sourced, heirloom cacao that is harvested from Ecuadorian farms applying ecological and regenerative practices.  I tend to think of drinking chocolate as being strictly “hot chocolate,” but this can be used in as a superfood mocha, in smoothies, as a topping (maybe on ice-cream?) or even just by the handful.

~Nova Dark Chocolate Ganache ($10): Nova Dark Chocolate Ganache is made with a select blend of our Nicaraguan & Ecuadorian cacao, the highest quality organic filtered coconut oil, and organic cane sugar.  It’s super rich and tastes like a dream when melted on top of ice-cream.

~Nova Craft Chocolate 70% Nicaragua Single Origin Bar ($6): This bar is made from Bisiesto variety cacao, grown in the coastal region of Nicaragua along the Pacific Ocean.  It has such a deep flavor that just a little square is enough to satisfy you.

~French Broad Chocolates Nicaragua 68% ($11): I think this was my favorite item in the box.  It has a flavor profile which includes buttered toast, black tea, and brown sugar.  Again it’s incredibly rich, and just a square is enough.

~One Bar One Tree Original Beans Papua Kerafat 68% (~$6.10): This bar has a “presence of pear and dried fruit.” It is gluten and dairy-free and made from “ultra rare” beans in Papua, Indonesia.

~Alter Eco Organic Dark Mint Truffle (~$5):  The final item in the box is Alter Eco Organic Dark Mint Truffles.  I have had these before and was thrilled to see them again. They are FANTASTIC!

All totaled I came up with a value of $51 for the March 2018 Grounded Goods. That’s just slightly over the cost of the box, but it was well curated and delicious!
