Adults & Crafts Review - Mosaic Resin Kit - August 2018
This month’s project was a Mosaic Resin Tray.  Adults & Crafts always includes Step by Step written project instructions.  I don’t always find them perfectly clear (I think it is difficult to write crafting instructions), but I can always figure out what to do.

The Project

Step #1 – Paint the Wood Tray: The first step was to paing the entire tray (all the sides and the top / bottom) white.  It took a few coats, but I was able to work on the next few steps while it dried.

Steps #2 – Apply Rubber Cement. The next step was to apply rubber cement to the watercolor paper.  These strokes are used to create a graffit look down the road with the watercolor art.

Steps #3 – Paint.  After the rubber cement dried, it was time to paint.  I went with blue and purple because they were the first two colors that popped in my head.  I just painted at random – no rhyme or reason to my method.

Step #4 – Peel Off Rubber Cement.  After the paint dried it was time to peel off the rubber cement.  It just rolls off into little balls and took just a few minutes.

Step #5 – Cut Watercolor Strips.  Step 5 was the longest step of the project, but it was not difficult.  The instructions suggested that you cut your strips, pick your pattern and then glue them down.  I decided to glue as a cut my strips (I went with triangle shapes) and it worked out just fine.  There was plenty of watercolor papers so I could cut triangles to the sizes I needed them without issue.

Step #6 – Create Your Mosaic Design.  All glued down and ready for the next step!

Step #7 – Apply the Resin.  I thought this would be complicated but it wasn’t at all.  The resin came in clear plastic bags which I transfered into the included paper cup.  I poured the resin into the middle of the tray and then just tilted the tray to spread it out evenly.  I covered it up with a sheet of paper so no dust would get into the resin before it dried and then left it alone overnight.

Final Thoughts. I  love how this turned out!  I am planning on using it as a catch all tray in my office.  This project was fun, easy and it turned out great – exactly how I like my craft projects to go!
