Best Ways to Beat the Heat

In honor of the dogs days of summer which have us sweltering, I thought it would be fun if we all shared our favorite ways to beat the heat.

  1. Head to the movies.  Movie theaters are one of the few places you may need to bring a sweater on those 90 degree days since they always seem to be freezing. But that’s okay.  It will be a welcome break!
  2. Go camping.  In your basement.(*)  I don’t know about you, but I do not want to sleep in a tent that has been baking outside in the sun (or even one that has been sitting in the shade) all day.  Talk about stuffy.  And sweaty.  Instead, set up that tent in your basement and camp out down there.  Get some glow in the dark stars for the ceiling, cook up some Smores Bars and tell stories around the flashlight.  It’s just like real camping.  Except better.  And cooler.
  3. Have a water fight with your new 75% (or 90% if you are lucky) Banzai Water Blasters and then come inside and make snow cones with your new Sunbeam snow cone maker, which you also found on clearance.
  4. Couldn’t find a snow cone maker at Target?  Then get our your Zoku Quick Pop Maker and get to work on some refreshing pops.  I wouldn’t mind a lemonade pop right now.
  5. No fancy in-ground pool?  No problem.  Fill up the kiddie pool, grab a giant golf umbrella, a good book and a drink, hop in and relax.  Who cares if your neighbors think your nuts?
  6. If all else fails you can sit in the air-conditioned house in your underwear and watch Sponge Bob.
  7. And when you get bored with all of that, go back outside and get sweaty all over again.  We’ll be begging for this kind of weather come January, so we have to take enjoy it as much as we can now!

What are some of your favorite ways to beat the heat?  Or do you just go outside and embrace it??

(*) I hear people outside of the midwest don’t always have basements? What is this all about?? And why not? Basements rule. If you don’t have a basement, where do you store all of your stuff??? (*)
