The Box

Allure’s Sample Society ships via UPS.  It always arrives in the first ten days of the month and takes only two days to get to me.

Full spoilers were released on this one before I received it which made me even more anxious to open it up.

First Look

Everything arrived neatly packaged and organized and looked fantastic.  They use a lot of packing materials in these little boxes, but I haven’t had anything break so it works.

The Information Card

Sample Society includes an awesome information booklet which lists the products in the box, prices for full-sizes, what the products do, why Allure likes them, etc.  The January 2015 Allure Sample Society theme was “New Year, New You” and included the following items:

~Zoya Nail Polish (Leslie) ($9): There were a total of five variations in the polishes sent out and they are all pretty gorgeous if you ask me.  They remind me of shimmery pastel Easter eggs.  Just an FYI, Sample Society recommends using a base coat with these to avoid streaks.

~Philip B Light Weight Deep Conditioner ($2.17): One thing I love about Sample Society’s information booklet’s is that they tell you like it is.  This product will make dry hair look shiny after just one use, but it will NOT make split ends less noticeable.

~Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar ($5.88): I have tried Hope in a Jar before (I think everyone has), but this is better in my opinion!  The booklet said it worked its magic in about a half an hour so I put it on right away to test it out!  And I felt like my skin was glowing.  I am going to buy the full size of this and use it nightly.

~Strivectin Intensive Illuminating Serum ($24.75): This isn’t listed in the information booklet, but it’s an awesome bonus item!  A full-size of this is $99!  It’s supposed to boost skin clarity for a brighter, more even complexion.  It’ll take a bit to know if this works, but I’m really excited about it.

Strivectin Instant Retexturizing Scrub

~Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar (~$7.50): This is the cutest little bar of soap ever.  I love it.  Unlike some charcoal soaps, this one doesn’t stink.  No idea how they managed that, but it’s great.

~Revlon PhotoReady Eye Art Lid + Eye + Lash (Peach Prism) ($8.99): These are fun!  It’s a two color-coordinated eye shadows in one.  You could use it as a liner too or dab a bit on your lashes, but I am all over the shadows alone.

All totaled I came up with a value of $58.29 for the January 2015 Allure Sample Society box.  And like last month, I thought thought this box was fabulous!  I was this close to canceling Sample Society and I am SO GLAD I didn’t!!  January boxes are off to a great start!

I got the blues. At first i was disappointed. Because i like my warm tones. But i have to say, i gave that Revlon eye duo a try and used it with my MAKE pallet from my birchbox vanity box and it looked really really good!!! Like a steel grey and a little pop. I got a couple of compliments in ny travels today. I am very pleased!!

I received the same color combo that you did. I am very happy with the shades! i was trying to cancel some of my subscriptions but I can’t give this one up when it has been so good!

I got the colbalt blue in the Revlon, it looks so fun. I’ve been iffy on this sub for the past few months but I absolutely loved this box. Also, my polish was Rayne, a frosty glittery blue. I have sons, not daughters, but if you did, as soon as I saw it I totally thought Elsa & Frozen. The StriVectin was a nice bonus. 15$ well spent I think!

$15 very well spent! And that blue is very Frozen like!

I was trying to save $ after Christmas and cancelled my subscription to Sample Society and kept Ipsy, but now I’m thinking I made the wrong decision…boo! 🙁 Is it too late to order a January box? Since there’s a coupon and everything….lol!

I think you can still get January, but it doesn’t hurt to call to double check. (888) 696-0423.
